I'd still rather get a petrol-powered moped.
The one in the picture is a genuine Velo-Solex made in France, but there's a plenty of Chinese conversion kits to turn an average bicycle into a moped...

reviving this thread.
2 years on since i saw the last post, dumadami na ang nakikita kong gumagamit ng e-bike. any tsikot users na may experience ba dito?
I work at MoA in pasay coming from Paranaque bayan and since di naman kalayuan ang distance, and sarado ang Macapagal access road Don Galo, I turn to using my yamaha scooter to get to and from the office. I just found out na wala palang bayad sa open mc/bike parking ang mga naka e-bikes saka mga bisikleta sa MoA plus yung advantages na no yearly registration and no license requred to actually ride one, it makes me even more interested.

August 11th, 2014 04:17 PM #43^i suggest you buy the one na may pedal. Una para pag nawalan battery. Pangalawa. Alam mo naman yung mga henyong police o traffic enforcer. Hihingan ka ng rehistro kasi daw motor. Etc etc. So less hassle, wag yung motorcycle talaga ang porma

August 11th, 2014 09:44 PM #44My brothers own one. They actually bought them from CDR King (not promoting here). So far its been more than a year with them and no complains, except the flat tire. They actually enjoyed using them as they've attested to its efficiency. They use it ,mostly in city drives. As of now, I already have plans to buy one but I guess I'll be buying them from a local distributor for easier parts and maintenance accessibility.

August 12th, 2014 04:33 AM #45Hindi ba subject to registration din ang e-bikes? Mahirap na baka magkagulatan. Plus, wala pa bang advice kung dapat licensed ang rider? Mahirap di kasi kung sinong herodes na lang ang nagpapatakbo.

Under 50cc, no license required.
Most e-bikes are weaker than a 50cc scooter, so the same applies.
EDIT: Whoops. Registration pala yun. My mistake.
As far as I know, electric scoots aren't covered by licensing requirements... but then, most of them can't even go faster than 30 km/h. But if they get more popular, it's a pretty sure bet they'll start requiring one.Last edited by niky; August 12th, 2014 at 12:02 PM.

it's not anymore a question of what the e-bike can or cannot do... it's now a question of the mischief the rider can do with his e-bike, because he's not trained nor informed on proper road behavior.
kung yung may lisensiya nga, pasaway na... yung walang... pa?

September 28th, 2014 07:31 PM #50My dad is keeping pressure on me to buy one for him, since he is already 70 years old natatakot na ako payagan sya mag Ebikes meron naman syang normal na road bike pero ang rereklamo hirap na daw sya pumidal.
Nag send sakin ng picture ng Ebike ang name Thunder ang presyo 34K pesos ok ba tong brand na to. Meron na ba sa inyo naka pag try ng Thunder. Problem baka kasi sobrang init sa mata ng mga buwaya sa daan hanapan ng rehistro at lisensya
