sir OTEP,

sir OTEP,

So far, i have replaced the clutch and the engines timing chain and its components. Kaya tahimik na ang tunog ng makina, dati kasi parang diesel engine na ang tunog dahil sa worn out timing chain and components niya.
Engine parts are still available in banawe, pedro gil and pasay, basta matiyaga ka lang para japan replacements o OEM parts mabili mo.
Kaya you have the options for original parts. Leaf spring bushings, idler arm assbly same as the local genI pajero.
Sa states ang dami pa nitong parts sa mitsu dealer, dahil doon din lumabas ang 2.6L engine in montero's and dodge raiders.
Lately, i just bought my OEM timing chain tensioner there thru my sister in california.
Regular tune-up lang at change oil, like spark plugs, air filter, pcv valve. konting carb cleaner lang ok na. Mine i replaced na the distributor cap & rotor w/OEM, and new high tension wires dahil original pa yung nakakabit na me kahinaan na. It even had a contact point before, now i replaced it with a breakerless and a high performance ignition coil.
For me its not bad for an old 2.6, since its not everyday driven
Pero it performs well naman sa pinatubo last Nov.30, 2002.
I even saw a SWB montero w/ 2.6L in pinatubo, think its from PORC guy.
About its cylinder head, according to the people from www.outdoorwire.com its the heads with the jet valve on it thats prone to cracks due to the difference in metal types, ata  . Luckily my cylinder head does'nt have one, ito ata yung cylinder heads ng early dodge caravans na hinahanap ng mga outdoorwire peeps sa junkyards sa states. I think aluminum cylinder heads can be welded and remanufactured just in case.
Worse come to worst, eh di magiging diesel 4D56 A/T pa ang ride ko. hehehe. Araayy ko po! :D

otomatic,

Anyway mukang ito yung may mga jet valves, but im not sure. Kasi ang purpose ng jet valves is to improve the combustion of air/fuel mixture, thereby it lessens the toxic pollutants. And I saw this gas j-tops has egr valves too and bunch of vacuum hoses connected sa carbs not too mention the couple of electricals controlling the carbs. IMO, to sum it up this j-tops has emission controls system and the jet valves on the cylinder head is a part of it. My GenI has no emission system, even the carbs are a lot simplier, even the choke for cold starting is manually controlled via cable sa dash.
I think its Dan's, di ko na inabot yung engine, ibang parts like the intake manifold/carb, radiator ay nasa passenger cabin na pero me tranny pa. Tamang tama at swb din kaya nakuha ko yung rear bumper corners/ends and etc.
Goodluck!! sana walang jet valve yung prospect SWB mo!
