mukang un nga ang problema nyan.. i drive both MT and AT.. pag nasanay ako sa MT, madalas ung kaliwang paa ko ang umaapak sa preno (cguro subconciously akala ko clutch) pero pag narealize ng utak ko na AT pala ang gamit ko, i shift back to driving AT properly.

my family owns AT SUV and an AT sedan, no sudden acceleration problems.. the engine wont start pag wla sa PARK ung shift gear. baka hindi lang sanay sa AT ung mga bumili ng montero na yan... syempre, aaminin mo bang driver error un? of course not! bka akala nya preno ang tinatapakan nya, un pla gas na...

ang kaso, like any other machine, hindi mo maikakaila kung tlgang wlang problema sa engine.that's one thing that you cannot hide/ erase. lalo na kung computerized na ang mga makina ngayon.. you will always be able to trace the problem. ang suggestion ko lang, think very well before claiming something that you dont fully understand kase mapapahiya lang tlga ung mag rereklamo kapag napatunayan na wlang problema tlga ang sasakyan...

kung tlgang naniniwala naman kayo na may problema sa sasakyan, dalin nyo sa DTI. may proper procedure naman jan.. un nga lang, just make sure that you know what you are talking about. you are dealing with professionals.

I constantly follow the thread about montero to at least educate myself before I place my order, I am planning to buy the 2012 when I go home this december. The plan was all set, my wife keeps on asking the SA of our friend for issues of maintenance and payment..until this this morning I came to know that there are substantial number of the car having sudden acceleration..complete with
pictures and accounts of the drivers..Mitsubishi also tries to hide the issue by resolving the case amicably but not confronting the
issues raised. As per record, there are 16 incidents and it is quite a safety issue already..until the incidents were cleared I will not
dare to gamble my life with that kind of car..

Is it me or why is it that these type of complains kept on appearing every single day.

Personally, I am an owner of this vehicle in 2WD automatic guise. It has not been tampered with, nor modified in any way. I am nearing my 10k pms. I have no gripes with my vehicle except that I wanted a gps navi system in mine.

So far, I have not encountered problems since I follow my regular pms and not install anything that may affect the vehicle overall and void warranty.

My point is that some owners who 'may' have experienced an unintended acceleration in their Montero Sport had the premise that this is indeed the vehicle's fault already without acknowledging that they may contributed to such scenario.

Given for example that it is the vehicle's 'fault'. What caused it? Factory defect? The manufacturer has already done a thorough investigation. Driver error? Very improbable that the affected will be so honest to admit his / her lapses in operation of the vehicle.

I've read the montero incident report. Mitsubishi wouldn't even commit to the affected owner if they weren't concerned at all lest let them have a buyback deal.

The report wasn't too technical nor is it lacking substance. It was straight forward and may have answered all the looming questions.

I'm not here to insinuate anything, it is everyone's right to claim their grievances to the proper authorities. However, this is giving present and future owners unintended stress without having the proper factual basis. Unless, a government agency like DTI steps in, do a full investigation and produce factual results, this is either bad propaganda or an oppurtunist's way of milking the cash cow of Mitsubishi.

I rest my and hopefully everybody else's case.

Hi guys, to be honest this thread got me worried coz both my sister uses their montero on a daily basis both are matic, one is GLS and the other one is a GTV.

Feeling ko lang naman ito ha. Kung rampage talaga yun sudden acceleration dapat mitsubishi had done something about it na pero based sa numbers compared to the total unit sold, sobrang liit yun percentage. My theory is this, been reading montero threads here for quite some time na. I noticed na yun reprogramming of montero sport ecu is done every PMS. If you guys will notice na most of the monty having this issue was after their 5k PMS. As exPlained by one of the forumer here stating that his monty was attach to a laptop to do some diagnostic test and the engine revs by itself wihout anyone inside the unit. Hindi kaya may bug sa program ng diagnostic test nila? Wih the bug now sa program ng ECU, this might lead to this sudden acceleration issue.

Maybe we can also narrow the culprit. Kung may bug sa program dapat lahat na monty undergoing sa PMS will experience this but only a few do experience this. So feeling ko lang na hindi lahat na dealership has this bug sa program nila for the diagnostic test. Maybe there is a single dealership na using a program with a bug that causing this mayhem. Kasi sabi ng fellow forumer na laptop gamit in doing the test, kung laptop puedeng ma edit yun program using the laptop unlike kung consult machines/ box where in reprogram na siya at there is no way to alter the program.

I just told my family to be aware at all times, if this happens put it to nuetral immediately and kill the engine by switching off the ignition sabay handbrake.

Kung nag-wiwild ang engine dapat talag turn-off the engine esp kung starting up pa lang. Kung umaandar naman, put it in P. I hope malaman na talaga yung problem nung 16 (hindi kasama yung bigalng sumusulpot lang at first post at dito agad, kaduda-duda yan unless may pics).

    Madali mag-kuwento eh. Pics dapat.

Di ba montero sold in the philippines are made in thailand and mas marami units in Thailand.. How come in the Philippines lang ang mga issues ng sudden acceleration? And how can 3 entirely independent systems , the engine, the transmition, and the brakes malfunction all at the same time. Nagtataka lang ako.

    1. Paano i launch ang a/t sa isang drag race?
    2. Paano gawin ang isang burn out?
