Thinking aloud here.
Ballpark cost of electricity per 1HP window-type aircon per month is P2,000
Cost of AC unit (inverter type)=P25,000; conventional type = P15,000
Delta = P10,000
If indeed 50% reduction in electric bill; then savings per month = P1,000
ROI = 10 months,- not bad.
So, I guess for inefficient old ACs,- 5 years and above, resulting to > P2,000 electric bill per month,- time to switch to the inverter-type AC.

November 5th, 2015 06:13 PM #34Yung 1hp inverter aircon ko, around 1500 to 2000 ang bill niya per month, 24/7 use yan. Pag mga 5hrs lang kami mawawala hindi na namin off. Ang tipid niya, maybe siguro during night room lang namin pinalalamig niya then pag araw room at sala.

We used to operate a conventional window AC (8 hour a day operation), conventional ref and washer cum drier (2 times a week operation; inverter motor), our electric bill hovered at an average of 8k a month. When we changed both AC, ref and washer to inverter, our monthly average bill became 3.5k to 4K.
