Had a Friday night dinner date with wifey and kids at the South Mall.... Landyo, pinulutan ng mga bugoy namin ang grilled scallops.... 😁 In fairness, tastes good....

Just checked out cars for auction this Saturday at HMR Sucat – driven by curiosity on the Prados from the US embassy included in the event.
Was only able to look at SUVs/Vans available. Sharing some notes for anyone else interested (by the way, I am in no way connected with HMR):
- The three Prados from the embassy are bare diesel-engine A/T units without the third row seat. Odometer had less than 50k km each. They are already the facelifted units; new grill (non-chrome)/headlight (non-LED) and spare stowed underneath. The description had them with defective batteries, but I was able to start the engine on one. Fluids were ok, engine ran quite smoothly. Interior is in decent shape.
- Aside from these three, there was also one Prado from ADB (not included in their preliminary list). This is the pre-facelift version, diesel-engine M/T unit and includes a third row. Battery was dead. Interior is nicer than the embassy units, Odo was at more than 110k.
- There were also two Hiace vans from ADB (also not on the list) – one a M/T Grandia with over 100k km on the odo, and another an A/T Super Grandia with over 220k km on the odo.
- The tax for the embassy and ADB units are to be shouldered by the buyer. An additional 5% of the winning bid has to be paid by the winning bidder to HMR. They do not process transfer of ownership directly nor assist in the tax payments, though they have brokers who can do this, all to be shouldered by the buyer. The payable tax and any reserve prices will be advised on the auction day itself.
- Also checked out four other locally-purchased SUVs (all with diesel engines) – one 2015 diesel-engine M/T Fortuner (was able to start it, less than 50k km on the odo), one A/T Trailblazer, and two old Everests (50k km to 60k km on the odo), one M/T, one A/T. The M/T unit’s interior smelled of piss……
- HMR is requiring a P20k bond to be able to participate in the general auction, and a 50k bond for special vehicles. It is not yet finalized which ones are classified as special, and how the mechanics would be during the auction on who can bid on what unit.Last edited by corbon44; April 24th, 2017 at 06:41 PM.
