this is what makes a real wok (carbon steel) and cast iron pan special...

sa mga Chinese resto nga, yung wok nila banlaw lang.

Anybody did this with their kawali? Nalaman ko na ginagawa ito ng mga elders. They cut branch from a tree and shape it and hammer it in. I'm just afraid to do it since it will be a hazard if not done right. Click image for larger version.

Do not overthink. It is not a hazard at all.

During the old days, our grandparents use wood for cooking and their pans probably has wooden handles. I think they did just fine.

I use Tefal/T-Fal and heavy SS cookwares for the induction cooker, and ordinary cookwares non-Teflon coated for the LPGas burner.

Recently I bought T-Fal pressure cooker and a Japanese deep-fryer that can be used for induction and gas burners.

we used to do that, so's we can handle the kawali with our bare hands while cooking.
nowadays, however, we just have a kawali mitten on hand. it's easier.

    besides,
sinong may puno sa likod nang bahay na willing na tabasan ng sanga upang gawing handle ng kawali?
    heh heh.

I hope the pressure cooker you bought has a standard sized gasket, ours had a same size replacement except that the original had a hole fashioned to it, we tried piercing the replacement, aside from needing more pressure to maintain steam, it also drips from the side. There was no available gasket replacement here, meron sa Europe, but the total cost exceeds the cost of a new one. What a waste, masama man sa kalooban, tinapon na rin namin.
