    TROPICAL CYCLONE: WARNING

    •Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 300 km
    diameter of the severe tropical storm.
    •It is possible to raise PSWS #1 over the rest of Southern Luzon, Aklan, Capiz
    and Metro Manila tonight.

    Location of eye/center: At 4:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon “NONA” was located based on all available data at 440 km East of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.3°N, 128.7°E).
    Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph
    Forecast Movement:Forecast to move West at 19 kph.

    Forecast Positions:
    •24 hour (Tomorrow afternoon): 10 km North of Catarman, Northern Samar
    •48 hour (Tuesday afternoon): 50 km East Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
    •72 hour (Wednesday afternoon): 140 km West of Calapan City

    Typhoon Nona to make landfall over Sorsogon Monday evening

    Monday, December 14, 2015 5:39AM

    Typhoon Nona (international name Melor) maintained its strength as it was predicted to pass very close to Northern Samar by early Monday afternoon, then make landfall over Sorsogon in the evening, PAGASA said in a 5 a.m. bulletin.

    After making landfall, Nona was then expected to cross Albay Province and head for Burias Island.

    At 4 a.m., Nona was 205 kms east of Catarman, Northern Samar, and was moving westwards at 17 kph.

    Nona had maximum winds of 150 kph and gusts of up to 185 kph. Estimated rainfall amount within the typhoon's 300 km diameter was from heavy to at times intense.

    Public Storm Warning Signal No. 3 was up over:

    Camarines Sur,
    Catanduanes,
    Sorsogon,
    Albay including Ticao Island,
    Northern Samar,
    Eastern Samar,
    Biliran, and
    Samar.
    Signal No. 2 was meanwhile up over:

    Masbate including Burias Island,
    Camarines Norte,
    Marinduque,
    Romblon,
    southern Quezon, and
    Leyte.
    PAGASA warned that areas under either Signal 3 or 2 could experience storm surges of up to 4 meters. Flash floods and landslides were also a danger in these areas.

    Meanwhile, the following areas were under Signal No. 1:

    Metro Manila,
    Oriental Mindoro,
    Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island,
    Batangas,
    Cavite,
    Rizal,
    Laguna,
    the rest of Quezon including Polillo Island,
    Southern Leyte,
    Northern Cebu including the Bantayan and Camotes Islands,
    Aklan,
    Capiz,
    northern Negros Occidental,
    Dinagat province, and
    Siargao Island.

    dunno if i heard right....CNN Ph says Nona grew from a cat-3 to a cat-4 equivalent storm in the last few min. The storm is now the size of France

    TC Update: as of 03PM today 14Dec2015, TY #NonaPH was located in the vicinity of Lavezares, Northern Samar or at 30 km West of Catarman, Northern Samar (12.6°N , 124.4°E).
