Power outage from around 5am to 1pm. Not easy when you're refrigerating breastmilk for a 6 month old baby who's also very particular about having lighting around. No internet, no radio, no TV, no info on the weather -- other than what we saw outside.
The water flowing down our street began to rise, which caused my father-in-law to park his Adventure on an empty lot beside the house -- and he got stuck in the mud. We had to tow it using our neighbor's truck.
Plus one belated inconvenience: my car battery discharged itself this morning, four months short of the two-year warranty. Luckily I still have the purchase receipt, so the shop will be handing me a service battery tomorrow while they send the old one back to the manufacturer.Last edited by Bogeyman; June 23rd, 2008 at 05:59 PM.

The Rav4 got battered by the rains... I couldn't move the car to our other garage (with a roof) since the strong winds might blow the gate or something:
At the height of the rain... water puddles formed in our lawn:
Late afternoon... the rain subsided by a bit. There's still a 50 percent change that the rain might worsen later.

I was awakened by the strong winds at around 4AM (Sunday). I have to go around the house and check everything. Di na ako natulog. Except for some leaves scattered on our front lawn, no damage so far on our properties.
When the "no classes" declaration was announced this morning, we decided to go out to get some stuff for our daily needs. Medyo tigil na ang ulan. Nag-brown out ng around 10:30AM sa lugar namin. Buti na lang paalis na kami. When we returned in the afternoon, may kuryente na.Last edited by chua_riwap; June 23rd, 2008 at 09:01 PM.

I got awakened by the strong rains at 4 to 4:30 am Sunday morning...power was out by then...had to buy some batteries also to have our flashlights working...by afternoon I went to visit my mom in law in Kaloocan, a few roads I passed like D. Tuazon in QC were flooded but passable but the stretch of Araneta Ave. in QC Tatalon was unpassable...had to make several detours along the side streets to get to my destination...got to Kaloocan by 3:30 pm and spent the rest of the afternoon there till 8:00 pm...by the time I got home around 8:45 pm luckily power got back on
so my batteries were just stored to use for another day...my tutorials also got a rest day yesterday but had to make remedial session for today.

Wife and myself were awake as early as 3:30AM because of the noisy wind. Somehow, the room we chose to sleep for the night in our place is not really that sound-proofed vs. the other rooms. Kids were peacefully sleeping in the other rooms. Anyway, electricity was cut-off at around 4AM (and thankfully it was restored just before the 8PM telecast of the F1 Race in France)....
Our vehicles are safely parked in our covered garage. So, not really a worry. However, the cover fixture that I put on our fence to shield a portion of the interior of our house from a couple of our neighbors' balcony/second floor was flapping wildly. It's a good thing that it never got free from the fence. I needed to restore the nylon ties later in the afternoon when the conditions were a bit better.
No damage in our little garden. No flood in the street where we live. However, outside our village, there is this perennial flood that the City Government has failed to resolve for so long.
I needed to engage our generator for the water pump, refrigerator, lighting, electric fan (no cable service - no TV), radio for the latest news, et al. It was a good thing that I "exercise" the generator every few weeks. Was able to log-in to tsikot only when regular power was restored.....

It felt like playing a role in the making of the 1996 action/thriller/suspense movie Twister~ with me playing the lead role instead!!! It was my first time to drive out-of-town with my son and husband (he does not drive & zero knowledge about cars) without an experienced driver sitting beside me or friends (ACP gang) or relatives within honking distance.
Anyway, the nightmare started as soon as we entered Calauan, Laguna. The worst part happened when we reached the mountainous area na uphill yung road (we took the wrong turn thanks to my husband who several minutes earlier said that “Men do not ask for direction!”). Kung kelan pa nandun kami sa uphill na road saka pa tumindi ang hangin….it felt like we were inside a washing machine literally!!! Visibility was zero and we were traveling at an ave speed of 10-15kph the whole stretch with all lights turned on and my wiper set to fastest. Even my son stopped playing his DS!!!
I did not feel nervous or scared (probably the Adrenalin rush) during the whole ordeal. The only thing I can think of during that time is to get us out of the road safely and soon! By the time we reached the main road of San Pablo City it was already sunny!!!
I thought we’ve seen the worst! Between 1am to 5am Sunday morning nagliliparan na yung mga puno. Good thing we decided to leave the resort earlier and sleep at my friend’s place instead (they own a motel with covered parking). I fell asleep shortly before 6am when everything has subsided. I woke up a few hours later and I am pretty sure we are bringing home lots of bananascourtesy of Frank!!! We left San Pablo around 430pm (Sunday) but this time we took the less stressful route going to Manila via Alaminos/Batangas. When I woke up Monday morning the only thing I can move are my eyes….my whole body aches!!!
