tingin ko mas safe pa ang educational plans na hawak ng STI
coz may school sila
pag pumalpak sila sa educational plan business nila, makakabayad parin sila...
paaralin nalang nila sa STI ang mga planholders

September 8th, 2009 04:28 PM #16I think pre-need business in Phil may not be good in the long run..
They failed to meet their financial obligations to planholders.
it's not like fire insurance where some houses burn down while most don't
or auto insurance where some cars get totally wrecked or stolen while most don't
the fire and auto insurers NEVER have to pay EVERY planholder, only SOME
whereas sa educational plan, the companies will surely have to pay EVERY planholder
there is no way the companies can make the funds (premiums) grow big enough fast enough to pay every planholder... i don't care how good their fund managers are... there's no safe and liquid investment that can give the kind of returns needed to sustain such a business
we hear pre-need companies have their funds tied up in real estate coz that's the only way they can get the yield they need... but real estate is so NOT liquid
many pre need companies are stuck with real estate and not enough cash
dito lang yata sa Pinas ang meron educational plans
it's a Filipino invention
(correct me if i'm wrong. if i'm wrong, pls. post links to show what other country besides the Philippines have educational plans)
Sa States, they have student loansLast edited by uls; September 8th, 2009 at 04:50 PM.

Good one uls. Its almost impossible to make risk free investments to combat very very high education inflation. The rise in education costs is the most staggering of all. Gone are educational pre-need and most likely nga educational loans (still a very small industry here unlike the G8 countries) will replace it and long before you get your job out of college they have a take on your take home besides the government and the SSS...

kaya i think it's a good business idea to have an educational pre-need business if you own a school
future enrollees mo, nagbabayad na ng tuition
i'm sure STI will come up with incentives that will encourage planholders to enroll in STI, at the same time, discourage planholders from enrolling in third party schools
the business is evolving
later on, educ. plans will be specific for partner schools only
kinda like HMOs where members can only go see their HMO's doctors and get confined in their HMO's accredited hospitalsLast edited by uls; September 8th, 2009 at 07:14 PM.
