CFL exchange gets support
January 18, 2010, 2:59pm
SM Prime Holdings Inc. through its environmental committee and in partnership with the Department of Energy recently launched a project entitled “Switch Na Sa CFL” in its 20 malls.
The CFL Exchange project is part of the Philippine Energy Efficiency Project of the DOE to reduce energy consumption, conserve coal and preserve natural resources in the country.
According to the DOE, CFLs or compact fluorescent lamps are a more efficient alternative to regular incandescent light bulbs because it has a longer life span of 6,000 to 10,000 hours, uses 70-80 percent less energy and offers the same amount of light.
CFLs are now available for exchange at designated SM CFL Exchange booths for free. All you have to do is bring your October 2009 electric bill together with your functional incandescent bulbs to the CFL Claim Center at SM supermalls, turn over your functional incandescent bulbs and show your electric bill to the DOE representative manning the center for stamping, and you are ready to install your newly acquired CFL in your household.
