why register laptops if they can snoop connections covertly?

number of connected users is a pretty lame excuse to be honest...
with today's network snooping programs, it's pretty standard to have IP filters and most users have their connections very vulnerable(no or lame firewall) or unmasked(visible IP address)
just enter the list of IP addresses to filter eg. 194.71.107.15 for ************.org
voila! users who visit the site will appear in the list
but of course this means tapping to ISP's directly(legit way)
though if it's just wireless, you can just sniff random connections then filter them by network address
it's even possible to read messages in instant messengers like YM once you've decrypted the wifi...(takes 1-3 minutes)
