MANILA, Philippines - Metro Rail Transit (MRT) operations from Guadalupe to Taft Station, both northbound and southbound, stopped on Wednesday morning, May 8, after a passenger reportedly jumped onto the train tracks.

The passenger, around 20 to 30 years old and still unidentified as of this writing, reportedly jumped onto the train tracks of the MRT's Guadalupe station. Authorities suspect he committed suicide.

The man, wearing a blue shirt, dark shorts and sneakers, got half of his body stuck under the train, according to Rappler Michael Bueza.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic director Yves Gonzalez confirmed the incident in a tweet.

"MRT temp stop operations from Guadalupe to Taft both directions. Initial report someone jumped on tracks at MRT Guadalupe station," he said.
