Yeah as if the majority of Filipinos who live below the poverty line have actual access to the internet and credit cards...
where many of them sees going to Jollibee as a big treat...
OB comparing a industrialized country with the banana republic again...
I'm sure online transaction is causing havoc to SM's business model...Last edited by Monseratto; May 30th, 2012 at 07:56 AM.

which local online shopping website is a threat to SM?
ayosdito? sulit? yung mga discount coupon sites?
sa States obvious Amazon is killing Best Buy. tawag nga sa Best Buy Amazon's showroom
eh dito? there arent that many online shoppers in the Phils.
there's no standardized payment system. no standardized delivery system. and not everyone has a credit card
di pa mature ang online shopping infrastructure dito compared sa US
meron pa nga meet-up transactions dito. ang primitive no?
madami nga independent sellers dito. individuals who operate home-based businesses na nagpopost sa sulit and ayosdito. those are hardly a threat to retailers like SM, Puregold etc
online shopping? malayo pa ang Pinas dudeLast edited by uls; May 30th, 2012 at 09:55 AM.

Maybe what OB is saying is since online shopping is still at infancy here, malaki potential na lumaki so SM is now looking in the future for them to better prepare or join the fray

so all SM has to do is create its own online shopping business
advantage of SM is they already have the physical assets
yung sinasabi ni OB hard disk lang kailangan? as if
if you're gonna be a big online shopping site you need big distribution centers
like this (Amazon):
as if kahit sino meron puhunan gumawa ng Amazon equivalent dito sa Pinas
if there's a company with the resources to do that it's SM
they got the real estate
they got the goods
if people stop going to SM's dept stores and supermarkets/hypermarts SM can convert those to distribution centers
and knowing SM's style, they'll probably acquire a courier company (LBC or JRS) for logistics
and they already own the payment infrastructure -- BDOLast edited by uls; May 30th, 2012 at 10:52 AM.

Tama naman si OB. Harddisk lang kelangan. If may mag order sa kanya online, i-order nya rin sa amazon
No need for big warehouses.
