It used to be that a knife would be enough to show that the homeowner was acting in self defense.

    I always try to remember the prerequisites/ conditions needed to claim self-defense;

When Can A Claim Of Self-Defense Be Valid?

Mr. Big is right of course, always have your lawyer's number on speed dial.

    tsikoteers,

wala kayo sa america na may karapatan ang akyat-bahay. Binabyahe nga minsan yan.

Pag nasa bahay nyo na at talagang magnanakaw ano gusto nyo gawin ?

AFAIK, ang mga pulis dito marami t*nga. Graduate daw ng criminology but they don't have a clue what self-defense is.

Diba nga yung isang dating member ng Hagibis, pinasok ang bahay tapos nung napatay niya yung ladron eh siya pa ang kinasuhan? It's far from how it is in other countries where the police make a determination whether or not to initiate a case before the prosecutor.

i am not very familiar with the nuances of the law.
but i believe it has something to do with the shooting in self-defense against an armed breaker-in inside the confines of the home, and going out of the house, shooting at and running after the do-badder as he makes his escape..
while i see the logic of going after him, so's he won't come back to finish the job,
the law might not see it my way...

Yes doc. Based on news reports, I think his case was dismissed because he had reasonable belief that the threat to his life hasn't ceased even if the perpetrator left his house.

Especially for a small sized handgun like the 23. If you cannot tame the recoil, follow up shots will be difficult.

Even with bigger models like the G22 vs the G17, you will feel the difference. Even more so with the G23.

Good luck, stay safe on the range sir.

A homeowner definitely cannot claim self defense if he/she follows the suspect and shoots him while he is making his getaway.

The elements of self defense are no longer present.

The burden of proof always falls on the homeowner/defender.

    Most welcome sir Sean.

I believe there are ranges in Manila who have Glock 23 house guns which you can try and compare with.

Also, please consider that the bullet chambers of the OEM barrels on Glocks are not fully supported so a Cal. 40 has been notorious for KB incidents. There are numerous discussions about it online.

    JMHO. Stay safe always.

The problem with 9mms is that there are so many entry level guns around in the 9mm ammo range, most of these guns are not really very handy on the grip or masyado mabigat ang bakal, therefore sacrificing accuracy in the range, unless you get the Glock 17s.

The best grip is the .45 gun, pero a .45 is a very deadly bullet in the body, so the logical thing is to get the competition .40.

Good points to ponder sir mini.
