To act or speak on behalf of someone or on someone's behalf is to do so as their representative. On behalf of should not be confused with on the part of: a speech on behalf of the Chairman is made by someone else, expressing the Chairman's thoughts: a speech on the part of the Chairman is one he makes himself.

In American English behalf is also used with in, to mean 'in someone's interest', 'for someone's benefit': Several people argued in his behalf.

what they said... "an" should be used for words with an initial vowel sound.

but if the reader will expand the abbreviation "MMDA", as he may in a speech, then it should be "a Metro Manila Development Authority officer".

ukelele is pronounced as "yukelele" and not "ookelele" so "an".

bad driver, nagpunta kami ni misis sa hawaii last April. We went to the polynesian cultural center attraction and there, the locals told us that UKELELE is actually pronounced as OOO-KE-LE-LE and not YOU-KE-LE-LE...damn yankees. hahaha

OOO or YOU, 'the' is better than a or an.

just like what some people are doing to the name "BORACAY"... dati ang tawag natin straight lang...bo-ra-kay.. ngayon bora-khay kulang na lang pati Cebu eh maging "say-boo" ..,
ang usage ng "da" o "dee" halos pareho din sa "a" at "an"

an apple, "dee" apple
a car, "da" car

ano ba yan balik grade school tayo mga pupils

but since sir Karding said ookelele and pronounciation sa hawaii.... hehe... so tama uli ang earlier post ko.

Can anyone helo me? How do you use the expression: "Go figure"? I kinda get it... but not. hehe
