Tama Ito. Walang kwenta yun mga 1kva na yan.

Sayang lang Pera. For me minimum dapat 3kva and even for that 2Kva+ na lang talaga output.

Mukhang Marami nanaman balak bumili ng genset for the impending earthquake ah. [emoji51]

Baka nakkikiuso lang kayo at everyday ninyo Makita genset tapos nasa isip Nino sayang lang hinde magagamit. Pero once na nagamit mo tapos Ikaw lang Meron electricity na Bahay. Priceless! [emoji23]

Paayos niyo pala mabili wiring palagay kayo ng transfer switch just to be sure.

Bili na lang kayo ng china made sa Manila. Mura pa. Huwag na mga inverter-inverter na yan or mga portable and other pautot na features.

Basta keep it simple. Hinde Naman talaga nagagamit eh hinde ko pa yata nagagamit na for 2-3 years genset namin. Just seating there waiting for that MasterCard moment.

Fancy nga genset nabili mo tapos sobrang habang kva naman Doon na lang ako Sa basic pero mataas na kva.

For the same amount of money I will go with the higher KVA than full featurse na genset.

Huwag na kayo mag learn from experoencd. Buy the highest KVA you can afford now para hinde na mag upgrade. Believe me mabibitin kayo pag mababang kva lang kukunin ninyo.

Agree here on the high power capacity genset..... Worth it.

It's not the features of the genset,- it's the electrical power when you need it.

Minsan mo lang magamit,- tapos ang mga kapitbahay mo na walang kuryente,- bayad na kaagad ang pinambili mo..... Talbog silang lahat sa iyo... Sa buong street mo,- ikaw lang ang may kuryente (at ilaw...)... :grin:

Thanks for the replies guys. Akala ko nakakasira ng appliances yung mga hindi inverter type? In our house in Bicol yung electric cooperative notorious for having fluctuating electricity supply. Pansin namin hindi tumatagal yung mga appliances doon. While di rin naman daw maganda electricity supply ng Meralco, much better pa rin daw.

Not really bro.,- am using ours for many years with (pressure) water pump, ACs, refrigerators, electric fans (motors)

And TV (CRT before) and now LED TVs, desktop PCs, modem>wifi.... [with internal AC-DC converters] etc... LED and CFL lights.....

No issue. Marketing blah blah,- "creating a need"...

Make sure your genset has built in AVR or install AVRs on sensitive appliances ...

Here my two cents regarding generators. FYI, I ended buying a small capacity (rated at 1000W, 1500W max) - enoug to power lights, TV, maybe 2 electric fans, and a desktop computer (maybe more small appliance pwede pa).

So bakit nga ba maliit lang binili ko?

Naiisp ko kasi kung saglit lang brownout, yung basic needs lang kelangan ko i-power up. Fans, lights, maybe TV, and computer kung may deadline or kelangan tapusing report. No need for aircon and refrigerator kasi saglit lang naman ang brownout.

Eh paano kung matagalang ang brownout (say 1 or 2 weeks)? Magandang tanong. I still won't plug-in the aircon and ref and other appliance na malakas ang consumo. Bakit? Malakas na ang gastos niyan sa gasolina. So alisin lahat ng laman sa ref at bumili na lang ng for one day.

Good for you paps wala ka sa lugar namin, bicol location ko, and kapag tinamaan ka ng amtinding bagyo dito, mahina ang two weeks.

Kapag ganito sa amin area mo, get a diesel genset and get the highest kVA you can afford.

Ang genset ko is a makeshift 14HP kubota clone engine (Golden Bow) matched with a 5kVA dynamo, then ang output is connected sa 5kVA (around 8k ata kuha ko) voltage regulator, will give you a running time for 12 hours, then pahinga mo lang mga 1 hour, takbo mo na ulit. Belt driven para low speed ang prime mover ko. Kasama ang ref namin, for normal household use, di nga aabot ng 0.5 kVa ang load mo nyan sa bahay that is around 5A load... Pero kung plano mo magplantsa, iba ng usapan yan.

Thanks bro. Problem ko din with bigger gensets is the space. The only open spaces I have left is a tiny balcony, laundry area (always wet) and my dogs' den. Parang gusto ko sabihin kay mrs mag hotel na lang kami pag brownout. :belat:

3kva is already more than enough for household consumption. The only thing I'm concerned right not (or when I use the genset) is the noise! It looks (sounds) like those Chinese made mufflers are no good.

Better explore other off-grid options if your are using your genset for that long period of time.
