We see a lot of tarantulas in our back yard. But, we leave them alone because they eat bugs and other pests. They also tend to run away if we're near.
The neighborhood kids would often beg us to let them catch the spiders because they like to keep them as pets.
These are older photos using my Nikon Coolpix 995.

RE: Pic of TS

I've seen a lot of different spiders in the PH:
One that looked like a black and yellow crab, garden spiders that looked like an X on its web, hand-sized spiders with golden webs on mango trees, the regular house spiders and others that can be found on banana and mangrove plants, the big hunting spiders I sometimes see hanging out in older bathrooms.
My favorite are the jumping spiders. They seem intelligent compared to all the others types. Plus, they don't bite when handled.

awesome yard you've got there in arizona sir!
it's exactly what every arachno bloke dreams of.
we also have a handful of local tarantulas here which belong to
the old world species.
but you can never find some of them here in the city (except for
some petshops that cater to exotic hobbyists).
the only spiders you'll see are the common huntsman
spiders (like the ts' attached pic) and those spiders you've mentioned.
here in Luzon we have dwarf brown tarantulas (phlogiellus
baeri),
which should be common
but were driven to rarity by
pests called.......
people (homo f*ckin sapiens).Last edited by holdencaulfield; September 28th, 2014 at 05:36 PM.
