Am kindda new here as I arrived less than a year ago to this forum. less than two years to the Philippines. So i have no idea on the exact details of your 67 vert. How did you get referred to the guy in Bulacan? was it through these forums?
That was nasty were they kept you waiting for nothing. Must've taken money in the process as well I am sure. That being said it must be difficult to recover the money.
Any advice for newbies entering the hobby? as more and more seem to be buying up projects. And would be bad to see some discouraged by incidents like this.
I too have been fleeced and there are some out there that have no qualms nor remorse about screwing others like these so-called "restorers" in cubao and another in Q.C. he keeps moving (i wonder why?)Last edited by midinite; December 27th, 2006 at 10:27 AM.

reminds me of this incident. I am re-restoring a 65 stang convertible that had been done by a guy with the same name - Alex (his last name is similar to an ex-president's) - but i dont think it is woodfire's guy kasi am sure woodfire researched. the car has to be re-restored kasi the method was done shabbily. the doors and hood needed new skins kasi masilya to death to cover up cheap welding. the shocks were not similar in length. tie-rods and all replaced since they were just fixed band-aid style. What upsets me the most is that the A-hole doesnt even think of the next person in the car. He compromised quality and standards so he could make a better margin and compromised in the process the safety and life of the driver and its occupants too (in this case my family). So many blatant errors and shortcuts were discovered when we stripped it and it looked so normal upon first seeing it. kala lang namin minor touch-ups. Even the latero was surprised at how good the cover-up was.

1) Yes, the restorer was referred through this forum
2) If you're gonna restore a classic, i.e., a keeper, try to have it done with those with track record, integrity, clean shop, and complete equipment. Although they're pricier, it pays in the long run. NO HEADACHE, NO FRUSTRATION, NO HIGH BLOOD! The smile you'll have whenever you see, hear, and drive the car is priceless.

-Yup, my engine is a 289. Tweaked it so it would have the specs of a K-Code.
- Painted the engine block Ford Blue. the differential, and underpinnings are all factory black.
- The blue radiator hose (Goodyear), blue plug wires (Ford Racing), and yellow ignition coil (Accel), aluminum radiator (Griffin) are all aftermarket. The original color of all these parts are black.
- body color is apple candy red. interior is black. soft top and boot is white.
- actually, dami pang dapat gawin based on my "laundry list"

That was one hellish experience you went through woodfire. Hopefully this incident serves as a warning and learning experience for newbies wanting to venture into the hobby. We can never be too careful when dealing with individuals, and like you said, it is better to have restoration done by those with a good track record, integrity and good feedback.
I'm looking forward to seeing your ride when she's finally done.

any updates? how is it going?
OT: need a orig radiator or a 3 row one na same size for my 65 stang. Got any leads or what can work as a modern alternative? can't sacrifice cooling. orig was 2 row pero that really needs to be supplemented by aux fans and a shroud.
fyi. heard from sources that the marilao group you mentioned was up to no good as well. including their bro the prez of a car group. tsk tsk. how things slide.

I think the last car stolen in the 'Gone in 60 Seconds' movie was a mustang 67. Awesome!

Nice 67 Vert Woodfire! Can't wait to see it during one of our future EBs. I also consider myself a newbie as I only bought my 2 Mach1s last year. Actually one of the things that got me going was your post sometime in 2005 when restoration work on your stang was I think in its early stages. Nainggit talaga ako. Since that time, I started my own search for either a convertible or a fastback. Anyway, we all have our sad stories to tell and am grateful for this Forum where future & current muscle car enthusiasts can learn a great deal from and avoid the money pits. Thanks and keep us posted.
