September 7th, 2015 03:30 PM #1Gonna bring my Mz2 on a weeklong fieldwork in Taal, Talisay, Batangas next week. Drive via SLEX-Eton City-Tagaytay-Talisay road. Time to test the car via downhill and uphill twisties.

Tolerance to/preference for small spaces is a totally subjective matter. However, the space that a car offers is completely objective and indisputable. If you're over 6 feet and still find the Mz2 spacious enough, then you'll definitely find any other car in its price range to be much roomier.
The Mz2 just has very very little space compared to other subcompacts. Personally, as a driver, I don't mind the snug fit. It feels almost as snug as a Miata. The dash and switches are all designed around the driver and I like that too.
But as a rear passenger, man it's pretty awful, no space to stretch your legs at all. The car is quite narrow (like most subcompacts), but what makes it worse is that there's still a center hump. I've tried fitting 3 small adults in the back and out shoulders were rubbing and it clearly won't be a comfortable affair for a long trip. Fitting 4 passengers in the back is doable with the City or Vios for short distances, but I can't imagine doing so for the Mz2.
I'm not really particular about space, but the Mz2 is pushing it as its interior room is more akin to a Wigo/Mirage rather than a Yaris or Accent.
If it had a bit more space, it could've been a strong contender to the other subcompact hatches, but as it stands I don't think it'll sell as well as the Mz3 relative to its class. The Mz3 is also short on legroom but still wide enough to fit 5 without feeling claustrophobic. I find the Fiesta to be quite small for its class too, and I thought the Mz2 was about the same, but it seems more cramped.Last edited by jut703; September 11th, 2015 at 08:03 PM.

The M2 was obviously meant to be a 2+2 w/o giving a hoot about competition....I'd still get an M2 hatch over any in its class. For those who need more space, there's always the bigger M3.
We can't have everything.... nor please everyone....
This is earth, not heaven.

Mazda2 is a 2-seater five door hatch / four door sedan vehicle. It's a poor man's Miata. Hehehe.

Yes the Mz2 is a great driving machine that unfortunately has no space. But then again, it goes directly against the Fiesta Ecoboost which is much faster, has more space (still cramped but can seat 5) and handles just as well.
Then again, there'll always be that market looking for something newer and fresher. It'd be a pity if the Mz2 won't be able to outsell the 5 year old Fiesta on its first year.

September 13th, 2015 06:43 AM #10Although small, the Mz2 is one hell of a machine. In terms of gas consumption, let's just say I filled my tank with gas 2 weeks ago and after yesterday, it just reached the 1/4 mark. That includes a daily drive from Alabang to Makati.
OT
I just got my reservation overpay yesterday since my bank financing covered all DP reqs. Hopefully getting the rebate soon as well
