Will this be the next Mazda 2 sub compact hatchback? There's a magazine picture circulating around the net about Mazda's next sub-compact.

Toyota will be lucky to have a taste of Mazda's SkyActiv technology then.
I'm betting that it will just be a rebadge model for South American market. The Demio/2 and Yaris life cycle just isn't aligned to serve as basis to one another. The new Yaris was introduced last 2012. The Demio/2 is been around since 2008.

July 17th, 2013 12:36 PM #4What complicates this situation is that their was another Yaris launched in China alongside the Vios.
Anyway, I don't think that the image posted on facebook is the next Mazda 2 since the grill is a dead ringer for that of the Kodo-fied CX-9. Probably just a render.
Edit:
Even the headlights, for that matter, look like chopped versions of that of the CX-9.

February 21st, 2014 06:38 PM #7Pogi but probably not the final look yet. Artist used the current body and grafted it with a Mazda 6 front clip. Exciting to see the concept though. If recent Mazda concepts are anything to go by, then this concept should look almost the same as the real thing.

New teaser of the Concept Hazumi. Looks nice, IMO. And though not obvious because of the exaggerated wheel wells, the bonnet will seem to be longer than normal for a FWD car. A trait that all new Mazdas have, from the CX5, all new 3 and 6.

March 1st, 2014 11:41 PM #10If they're going to go SkyActiv on the Mazda 2, I really hope they get very good fuel economy numbers. Design-wise, I believe they'll pull it off (with CX-5, 6, and 3 leading their classes in style for me) so they must squeeze in the economy and functionality traits to the 2 and they'll have a hot-selling product.
