Seat subframes are usually just bare galvanized sheet metal components. It's common to find rust there & this isn't Mazda-specific. The good thing... those aren't exposed parts & aren't expected to worsen. If they really bother you, a short cut, half arsed solution, w/o seat removal & painting, is to clean em up w light sanding/brushing & wrapping w/ silver vinyl. You won't want the interiors smelling like paint. Rust converters work poorly on galvanized metal.
The proper way is to remove those seats, sand, prime, let cure then reinstall.
Me? I don't peek under.

November 7th, 2016 11:32 PM #1526Another question again. Sorry for the questions. I want to replace the stock headlight bulbs with a brighter one. According to research and reviews, the best replacements (following the manual for specifications 60w/55w) are the osram night breaker unlimited and the philips xtremevision h4 bulbs. Are there any repercussions/issues that might arise if i were to use a much higher wattage bulbs, say a 100w/90w like that of the Philips weathervision?

November 8th, 2016 08:58 AM #1527If you want to use higher wattage bulbs (>55/60W) you have to upgrade to ceramic plugs and use a relay. Otherwise you could fry the wiring and stock plastic plugs. Although its not a bad idea naman to upgrade the plugs and relay even if you only use the stock wattage bulbs. Osram NBs and Philipps EVs wattage are same as stock though so no problem just plugging them in, but like I said no harm in upgrading the wiring. Warranty could be void though.
