Yeah gregg_g when I'm home, I seldom surf the internet. Pag sa jobsite, I do it everytime. Well, nice to know you fix the problem on your Sorie. My old horn, I'll check it next time if I still have it. Baka kasi natambakan na ng iba't ibang items sa stock room. My sorie still doing good after almost 3 years. Wala pa namang naging issue mechanically except some body dents due to my frequent trips to panay island dahil sa mga bato.As usual, di pa rin nagbabago ang urge ko humataw with the Sorento...hehehe

May 25th, 2007 04:35 PM #1072Have any one of you tried putting a chip on your Sorento to improve the torque and HP? DP Chip from Australia sells for P60K+. Will there be any issues on the engine and voiding the warranty? Thanks.

Ano ba ang magiging HP and Torque rating ng Sorento pag naka chip? As far as FC is concerned, pinakamatipid na nakuha ko umabot ako ng almost 215 Kms bago bumaba ang fuel gauge needle ko sa "Full" mark. Byahe ko non Manila-Batangas then Calapan-Roxas, Mindoro last March.

May 26th, 2007 11:26 AM #1076hi guys
just an update. i had the sorento serviced for 25T kms PMS last thursday at KIA pasay. bill was 2950 plus 670 for engine detailing for a total of 3620.
at first, they 'padded' the bill with 240 pesos for multi-purpose cleaner. i complained about it saying that the high engine detailing cost should include that cleaner so they adjusted the bill minus that additional 'ghost' cost.
i'll have the engine detailed outside next time. kaya lang worried ako baka hindi familiar ang ibang carwarsh boys sa sorento at hindi matakpan ang dapat takpan prior to the engine wash. ano nga ba ang dapat takpan at san banda yun? di ko din kasi alam.

When doing some engine cleaning, its the alternator that I cover with plastic. I personally do the cleaning with the engine. Spray some degreaser and let it stay for 5 mins, do a quick wash using water hose and then let it dry with an air spray (got a compressor at home), to simply displace water in those areas which has some crevices, then lastly, manually wiping the hard to reach areas...

May 28th, 2007 05:18 PM #1079thanks for the reply, gregg_g.
i'm not a DIY kind of guy but i can tell the carwash boys to cover the alternator because that's visible and easily recognizable, if that's the only thing that needs to be covered.
sabi kasi ng casa may mga sensitive components daw na baka mabasa.
i'm a little worried about the sort of plastic covering the main block of the engine because i dont see what's underneath it and looks like water will go through it when washed.

Actually you can take out the plastic from time to time and spray it with degreaser, actually these are fuel lines and the injectors. Just like what I have said, just do a quick wash. Talking about the sensitive parts, will just go easy on those plastic housings for the electrical, but I think they are properly covered, but just to be sure, quick and not direct, somekind of a widespray...
