December 30th, 2013 09:29 PM #1saw this beautiful sorento at caltex nlex kaninang hapon. astig! pabalik na sa kalye at palabas na po kasi kami nung napansin ko kayo. lalapitan ko sana kayo kung maaga aga ko kayo nakita. nice setup sir! saw another brown sorento there parked alongside mine.
it's my sorento's first countryside run so i seized the opportunity to stretch her legs. she clocked 8,000kms already before this run. the entire marikina-pangasinan roundtrip of around 350kms registered 6.2liters/100kms on the trip computer. ill know tomorrow the exact numbers when i fill her up again. top speed for me on tplex and sctex is 180kph. may speed limiter nga yata talaga. average speed is 120kph. comment ng misis ko eh hindi daw ramdam ang bilis kahit na nasa 160-180kph hindi kagaya nung dati namin na ride. her sprinting felt so good that i dont feel that i got to downshift just for her to keep up. humahataw kahit na sa 6th gear. nakakatakot lang pag ni rerev ko from 1st gear to 2nd gear to 3rd gear, nagsway yung manibela siguro dahil sa torque and power. manual transmission FWD po pala ko.

December 28th, 2013 09:58 PM #2Thanks, bro.
The tire pressure was 40psi when I got it from casa 2 months ago. I immediately reduced it to 34. Honestly, I haven't checked it yet ever since. But basing from experience, It's my usual practice/habit to increase the tire pressure to 2psi more than the usual EVERYTIME I drive long distance with loaded setup.
BTW, power was never a problem with that setup. My top speed along SCTEx was 160kph (sandali lang naman). Average was 130kph. Walang makahabol, bro. The O-Sulee, I guess, helped as well in terms of stability.
Having said that, last ko nang biyahe with the Sorento with that setup. Me kulang compared sa Fortuner. Baka sa ground clearance or maybe because my Fortuner is AWD plus it's imposing presence. There's a thin line between thrill & danger. You get carried away with it's power.
Cheers!

December 31st, 2013 02:49 AM #3Dilemma, do I get a new 4x2 Sorento brand new at P1.365 or a 4x4 Sorento pre owned by a casa at roughly the same price but with added accessories (fogs, spoiler, back up sensors, step board)? A few thou km only. Same color naman. Advice please? Same A/T and 2.2 CRDi.

The BIG QUESTION is "Why is the 4x4 sorento back at the casa?" If it were repossesed by the bank then it should be with the bank and NOT with the dealership. So it was either previously owned by the dealership's owner Or HAD WARRANTY ISSUES, NORMALLY TERMED AS A LEMON UNIT. So ask them who owned it previously. If the owner is not a member of the board of directors of the dealership then definitely it is a lemon unit.

December 31st, 2013 11:57 AM #7*yebo good thoughts. To clarify, it's owned by their president. And I nego'd it down to P1.32 kaya I "save" P45k on it, assuming it's not a lemon nga. While I don't need a 4x4 (is it an AWD, or you can select the 4x2 and 4x4 as you wish?), it seemed a sweet enough deal.

December 31st, 2013 06:55 PM #8in my opinion, ok yan deal. i dont know about claims, but i think you can invoke warranty. assuming 5 years pa yan, i think if im in your shoes, i can already risk it. isipin ko lang na yung reduced price nya is because of the depreciated value (which brand new car owners lose by around 20-30% when they drive out of the casa). pero gaya nga po ng sabi ni sir istan, you nego it more. ilagay mo sarili mo sa lugar ng may-ari, if he sells that in the open market, will he get more cash with it?
wag lang sobrang lemon na sasakit ulo mo kakapabalik balik sa casa (say once or twice a month).

January 1st, 2014 09:58 PM #9*walter so far stock mags and tires yon which I actually hate. same tire and mag set ng 4x2. I wanted to upgrade to 19's (55) or 20's (50) like *sagingsaba's. What are good pang AWD ba? Sorry ignorant and (would be) first time SUV owner kasi. Lol.
*dark lord yeah para sa kin na nego ko na from P1.38 to P1.32 so parang good deal na yon. Syempre I'd prefer it be lower esp baka nga pang test drive na lang yung unit. And the sweeter deal is the added mods. Thanks for your in your shoes perspective.
Will see first the unit tom. Puntahan ko dealership.
*bratski no harm done.
