Nice article... tumbok yung problem ng mga skyroof edition. Goodluck to your fight and more power.

Sa akin lang I am thankful na kasali ako sa mga batch na walang problem ang sleeve/o-ring.

I texted my bro in law as his good friend also has the skyroof edition and I remember him telling me this was towed back to manila when it stalled somewhere in pampanga yata 2 years ago when the engine went wild, high rpm na ayaw bumaba. Under warranty pa naman. And I believe something to do with the injectors din. When I asked him if his friend still has the trooper due to this campaign of paulchua, sagot niya, "no more, nabenta na. Bulok ang trooper!". I also personally know this person, though mas close yung bayaw ko. So I just texted back, kawawa naman sa nakabili.

AS of this writing, it may be possible the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-BTRCP) may be hearing the complaint filed by Dr. Paul Chua regarding a defective sport utility vehicle (SUV) model.

The case stems from an allegation that Isuzu Philippines continued to sell the 2003 Isuzu Trooper "Skyroof" model which Japan discontinued exporting in 2002. Notably, the 2003 Trooper which uses the 4JX1 engine has been recalled in countries like Australia, New Zealand, and United Kingdom because of its malfunctioning fuel injectors.

A simple search in the Internet reveals the recall order of the three countries specifically identifying the fuel injector as the main source of the problem. According to the Australian Government, Department of Transport and Regional Services Report, the 4JX1TC diesel engine injector sleeve sealing o-ring can deteriorate causing fuel to leak into the crankcase. This may result in un-intentional engine increase and possible vehicle speed. The United Kingdom Recall Order Number R/2005/179 from the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency specifically named the Isuzu Trooper 3.0 Litre engine subject for recall because of excessive clearances within the fuel injectors. Likewise, New Zealand buyers were advised to have their engines reworked and they were contacted by mail.

Dr. Chua bought a 2003 model Isuzu Trooper with 4JX1 engine from Gencars Makati. He neither missed any of the required periodic maintenance service schedules by Isuzu. The unit, however, still suffered 3 injector replacements in 2 years from December 2004 to November 28, 2006. The last injector problem caused water-fuel mixture by failure of the injector sleeve o-ring. This resulted water to cross over to the engine cylinder head and likewise oil to the radiator.

According to Chua, Isuzu Philippines is not addressing the problem in relation to the fuel injectors and are hiding under the limited warranty clause, and obviously running away from their obligations. Several Isuzu Trooper owners are also experiencing the same fuel injector problems.

DTI and other Isuzu Trooper owners must also ask Isuzu Philippines why they persisted to launch the 2003 model despite the fact the Trooper was discontinued in 2002 and massive documented recalls were made e.g. Australia, UK, New Zealand? Why does a multi-national company with a global interest dump alleged defective vehicles in the Philippines and at the same time impose a double standard by having the defective models recalled in other countries except in our domestic market? Does ducking behind a limited warranty clause excuse Isuzu Philippines from its legal obligations when the model itself is substandard? Do we smell a class suit? Abangan?
Well written and well thought out (unlike Isuzu's favorite, RBG, in his idiotic crusade against the "defective" hydrolocked Escape).

Good luck with this, Doc Chua. Keep us updated on the results of the hearing.
