Nice! I'd think it was the radiator if I didn't know beforehand!

    hi
i think since the supposedly all new dmax has 3.0l displacement, its better to compare it with the rangers 3.2l engine, so its like apple to apple and orange to orange

just my two cents, but i agree on your post, even our 2003 nissan frontier 2.7l has better low end (less than 1800rpm) torque

I know you have a DMax before. You've been posting sa DMAx thread pa nga and read some of your comments.

Binabasa ko ung Thread ng Ranger. Nasa page 480 na nga ako. Mantakin mo, mula Page 1 tyinaga kong basahin just to read the comments about the Ranger.
Hirap kasi pag nagkamali ng bili. Di madali mag dispose ng sasakyan. Di tulad ng celphone.

There were even some comments there na ung Navarra and DMax nila mas malakas pa hatak at lower RPM and 1 also posted missing the low end kick
of his HiLux when he changed to Ranger.

There were also some posts saying at 6th Gear, the Ranger is at almost 2k RPM at 100kph. So parang ung 5 speed lang din ng 07 Santa Fe.
Nasa more or less 1800 RPM when travelling at 100kph. Ung 5th gear pa ng Santa Fe dadalhin ka pa hanggang 200kph. he he.

From what I can surmise now, the Ranger 2.2 engine is nothing spectacular even at 150HP and 300+ Torque.
It is just that madami syang bells and whistles at a lower price point tapos biggest dimensions pa even when compared sa new Dmax.

You can see from my posts in this thread na nagalit din ako sa Isuzu sa ginawa nila sa new DMax. Lumang engine ang kinabit. tsk tsk.

Pero, compared to Ford's 2.2 engine, di naman nalalayo ang power ng 4JJ1 TC (150hp vs 146hp). The torque of Ranger is much much higher.
    300+ as against 4JJ1's 295 lang.

Pero the feedback from the Ranger's thread makes me think that the Ranger's engine is nothing spectacular.

Usual issues of small engines with Turbos - naka depende palagi sa boost kaya akyat muna ng RPM bago sumipa.

Si DMax naman, no boost needed. It has already enough head room even at lower RPM.

Nag iisip pa ako. Pero shortlist ko na tong dalawang pick up. Di pa naman this year ang plano ko bumili kaya mahaba pa oras ko.

Then you might be using a vehicle not tuned for our local fuel

It is not the radiator as the radiator is behind it.

I like the intercooler chief, if ever it's that big BUT i'm having hard time liking the new style - hate that grille, that so called aerodynamic styling, and that big Isuzu name on the grille

Stiil like the previous "hood-scoop" boxy shape D-max that was never offered to us ;)

me and a friend went to a isuzu dealership today to look at the new dmax. my friend currently owns a 2012 dmax LS. when we left the showroom, parang mas maganda parin yung old version dmax. mas maluwag siya specially on the rear seats. the new dmax looks cramped inside.

anyway, can anyone confirm if the supposedly unreleased new engine of the new dmax is the current one installed on the chevy colorado?

Mas masikip pa? Seryoso? And then old D-Max wasn't exactly known for it's rear legroom.

No, the new D-Max uses a different engine (not released here). The new engine is the 3.0L 4JJ1-TCX, which is an upgraded, VGT version of the old 4JJ1. The Colorado uses a 2.8L VM Motori sourced Duramax unit. Both make 180hp, but Chevrolet's makes significantly more torque.

NOPE, mas roomy ang rear sir ng bagong D-max, longer and wider ang mga legrooms. Naire-raise up pa ang seats kaya mas wider ag perspective mo both forward and peripheral.... Dalawang old model D-max meron kami chief, from the older 4JH1-TC D-max to the old 4JJ1-TC D-max box type that me and your friend has....

But it's true, i also prefer the box-type looking older D-max than the new D-max.... Nagsasa-aerodynamic pa Isuzu eh, gumagaya sa mga iba (buti hindi ka-shape ng itlog gaya ni iStrada ahihi :D), eh hindi naman lilipad mga yan

    Cheers!

THE 4JJ1-TCX WITH VGT WAS RELEASED AS FAR BACK AS 2006. THIS TIME IT WAS JUST TWEAKED-OUT FOR 2012. IT IS BASICALLY NOT A NEW ENGINE JUST TWEAKED OUT. The Colorado uses a 2.8L VM Motori sourced Duramax unit. Both make 180hp, but Chevrolet's makes significantly more torque. NONETHELESS THE VM MOTORI IS OLDER AS IT WAS DESIGNED IN THE LATE 1990'S BUT HAS NO VGT AND IS NON-COMMONRAIL BACK THEN.... SO IT IS NOT A NEW ENGINE, JUST TWEAKED OUT ALSO FOR 2012.

Just "tweaked out" your statement too sir GTi hehe

    Cheers idol!

I think the reason it looks smaller is because the seats are bigger and more contoured. Lumang D-Max, flat yung seats. Pero it's definitely big.

Parang tempting... 1.15m for the 4x2 3.0 MT? Call!

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
