    Hi Djerms.

I know you have a DMax before. You've been posting sa DMAx thread pa nga and read some of your comments.

Binabasa ko ung Thread ng Ranger. Nasa page 480 na nga ako. Mantakin mo, mula Page 1 tyinaga kong basahin just to read the comments about the Ranger.
Hirap kasi pag nagkamali ng bili. Di madali mag dispose ng sasakyan. Di tulad ng celphone.

There were even some comments there na ung Navarra and DMax nila mas malakas pa hatak at lower RPM and 1 also posted missing the low end kick
of his HiLux when he changed to Ranger.

There were also some posts saying at 6th Gear, the Ranger is at almost 2k RPM at 100kph.
Nasa more or less 1800 RPM when travelling at 100kph. Ung 5th gear pa ng Santa Fe dadalhin ka pa hanggang 200kph. he he.

From what I can surmise now, the Ranger 2.2 engine is nothing spectacular even at 150HP and 300+ Torque.
It is just that madami syang bells and whistles at a lower price point tapos biggest dimensions pa even when compared sa new Dmax.

You can see from my posts in this thread na nagalit din ako sa Isuzu sa ginawa nila sa new DMax. Lumang engine ang kinabit. tsk tsk.

Pero, compared to Ford's 2.2 engine, di naman nalalayo ang power ng 4JJ1 TC (150hp vs 146hp). The torque of Ranger is much much higher.
    300+ as against 4JJ1's 295 lang.

Pero the feedback from the Ranger's thread makes me think that the Ranger's engine is nothing spectacular.

Usual issues of small engines with Turbos - naka depende palagi sa boost kaya akyat muna ng RPM bago sumipa.

Si DMax naman, no boost needed. It has already enough head room even at lower RPM.

This engine doesn't make the most or highest power but it makes the right power at any one-time....

Long-stroke diesel ang D-max natin at mahaba ang powerband. Wala akong complaints talaga sa D-max wastegate turbo dahil sa responsiveness at relative tipid nito sa diesel consumption.... However, it's not designed naman na pang-dulong rpm talaga (typical hauler na truck ika nga ang powerband)....

Also, we Pinoys certainly would not mind that we would even LOVE-TO-RAVE about it should finally we be offered with the updated 4JJ1-TCX VGS Turbo engine.... Tiyak wala talaga tayong complaints diyan as i've driven the older-version 4JJ1-TCX when i was in Spain working and here in Australia.... I'd say it's way better than the rest and it's really "under-stressed" might i impress upon you sir Nels ;)

Its power when you need it. Pang hauling talaga. No nonsense pickup ang dmax kaya ito babalik balikan. Safe choice kumbaga. Owners are the type who doesnt care about the newest or the freshest in the market. If you plan to keep it for more than 10years, its the rig for you.

Regarding our >5-year old D-max 3.0 Ddi-iTEQ, all i did so far to improve further the power sir Djerms is plugged in a Racechip Pro 2; had this since way back 2011. i'm only setting it at C-C. The increased rail pressure from this chip sizeably also improved my fuel economy for city-driving from the previous 10.5 km per litre average to 11.2 to 11.4 km per litre.

I also put a Bilstein HD suspension to improve the compression and rebound (damping).... It won't eliminate the tagtag much to a point as it's still a leaf spring set-up but the reduction is very noticeable and worth the change. Besides, the KYB shocks if you buy them in Isuzu dealers they cost PhP6k each (so PhP24k all in all).... The Bilstein HD full set-up is only going currently for PhP28k (not PhP36k, as provided in the website) at Speedlab, including labour....

i would still buy a D-max for a pickup sir, but it should now be the 4JJ1-TCX VGS engine D-max, not the all-new D-max that we have now with the totally new body cosmetic upgrade only.... It's not worth it in my personal opinion as i'd be driving a pickup with the same engine as the one i already have hehe .... Kumbaga sir, gagastos lang ako ng another PhP1.0 M mahigit plus maintenance pa nito pero i get the same D-max engine.... Pass na muna ako in the meantime until the TCX is here....

    Cheers boss Djerms!

Tama ka it relies on boost for low end grunt which in the city is a bummer. Yung 2005 dmax ko could do way better.

Pero come to think of it, a reliable 3.0 carry over plus a new and more spacious modern body....baka match made in heaven ito.

deym talaga, when i bought topgear ph roll out issue last year nandun na yang dmax, but it's specs was with twin turbo, assuming ngayon na it's for thailand specs only, lol. kala ko pa naman its time for a change sa dmax, ride height lang naman nagbago tapos exterior porma, some bits siguro sa loob, same engine, sorry, same old engine. nevertheless good worhorse, bulletproof in terms of reliablity

No doubt chief that with the 3.2-litre tapos inline-5 cylinder engine pa (isa lang ang balancing shaft nito at smooth, unlike our 4 cylinders na 2 ang kailangan ;) ) with matching 470 Nm torque starting at 1500 rpm, WINNER talaga low end the Ranger 3.2 TDCi

The reason why i have never been a fan of automatic transmission kumbaga even for metro Manila driving ;)

    Cheers!

Hay naku sir, ubod ng hina marketing ng Isuzu sa atin sa Pinas when it comes to their passenger cars tsk tsk tsk
Business-minded profit driven one of the big names sa Isuzu Philippines, mga Yuchengco. Masaya na Isuzu management sa Top 5 to 6 sa sales sa bansa though No. 1 sila sa mga trucks.

3 lang ang owners ng Isuzu Phils. ---- Isuzu Motors (which partly owned by Toyota Motors Japan), Yuchengco under the YGC group like Honda Philippines, at Mitsubishi Corporation ang mga may ari. It's a private, not public company; di tayo puedeng maging stockholders haha! ....and influence in the decision making ahihi.... Kaya tiis tayo sa diskarte nila.... Mitsubishi Corporation is different, by the way, from Mitsubishi Motors....

    Cheers!
