AFAIK, when the switch is engaged the 4wd system does not go to front wheel drive mode.

Or it could also be like the Escape's where engaging the switch only makes for earlier engagement.

(quite slow since i as off a turn), suddenly when the gear hit second at about 30-40km i heard a very loud "clank" sound either from the bottom of the car or the engine. First i thought i ran over a can but i looked behind and there was none. Then the shocking thing came. Lost power then engine sounded different also black smoke from tail pipe... I said oh no a lemon!!!! but the car still managed to move though had a hard time. Service did not open till monday but i had my speculations already that it was the turbo. So brought it to erod and told them about it. Left the car at 1130 am and they called me at around 2 saying the car was fixed. True enough it was the turbo. It seems that the clamp on the hose came off. So good for me no major problems. But I'm quite disturbed by this. If we look at our clamps for the hose of the turbo its really a clamp and not the kind of clamp that is tightened by screw. I guess this is one issue that hyundai should look into.

Oh by the way Lui... Please figure out what the bulb the santa fe uses for the fog lights. thanks.. I mean Model like 9004 or whatever.. thanks again
sir paki-explain naman yun clank. parang loud thud ba? kasi na-experience ko yan while traversing ADB ave. tapos parang hirap umarangkada. what I did was to play with shift stick, sports, auto, sports, auto. bumalik naman.

Kind of a loud thud. It really sounded like you hitting a empty can.. First I thought that it was the drive train or something but grabe naman diba kung yung nga. the idea of having supply pump problems like the fortuner came into mind too with that idea, i really got worried. I did the same thing, played with the stick shift.. sports..auto sports.. but power did not come back. so i had it serviced and they did say turbo clamp nga. but who knows right. the check engine light did not go off naman so i guess it was not detected by the computer. so with your experience, did the problem just go away.. back to normal na yung auto mo. I'm a bit worried now parang there is something more than the turbo now...

Most auto supplies will have different style clamps. Nag-change to screw type na din kami on some old vehicles. If your really want HD clamps for high pressure applications, speedshops/raceshops will have them. Try Speedlab along Quezon Ave.

yes sir ganun din sakin, it sounded like hitting an empty can sa ilalim. pero bumalik naman. aside from playing with shift stick, pumarada pa pala muna ako sandali and engine shut off and start again.

ok naman sya ngaun, no loss of power. responsive pa din.
