August 31st, 2008 02:55 AM #101wow ganda naman ng bago car mo. it seems that the trend nowadays will be mini-cars in the streets again. the new jazz, then this.
btw, my uncle told me na in the oil crisis days of the 70's daw nagsisimula na pala mga SUVs noon araw. these are the SUVs with wood trimmings on the side body.
then come the oil crisis of the 70's, suddenly cheap japanese mini-cars became hot items like the old civic hatch, the old-school lancers and toyota dx's.
parang history repeats itself lang talaga, the world experiences growth, the world buys bigger cars kasi affordable na man oil, then a crisis struck, back to mini-cars and sedans.

September 1st, 2008 06:50 AM #103I just got my i10 last Saturday. I got mine in deep ocean blue MT. The color was my 2nd choice since the blushing red wasn't available in Hyundai Shaw. I'm glad I got the blue.
My dad, brother and I went around Whiteplains. We tested out the car specifically in that village for the steep slopes. Both my brother and dad are 6 ft tall and approx 200 lbs each plus me. 3 big passengers in the i10 driving around Whiteplains. My dad's only comment: "Pwede na pang Baguio."
The drive of the car is amazing for the size. The car has been driven to at least 50 km already. It reached 100 km in EDSA on a Saturday night! The handling was pretty ok at that speed. But, I felt I was about to fly with my small car compared to my mom's Toyota Altis (AT) I have been driving for the past couple of weeks. I really felt how fast I was going. I think my passengers felt the same way.
The airconditioning of the car is pretty strong. I always have to wipe my glasses every time I step out of the car. I think that's a good sign it was cold inside.
To my luck, it rained early Sunday morning. I got the chance to use the car in the rain. It may be that I'm not used to driving a hatchback yet but I noticed, pardon my ignorance, the back windshield wiper was turned on while driving in the rain. If I didn't do that, I wouldn't be able to see. Is that normal? (again, pardon my ignorance.)
The are 2 things didn't like in my new i10 MT.
1. The sound system. I sound quality is blah. I will really need to change it someday.
2. The Hubcaps. Someday I will make the i10 look cuter with mags.
My only concern right now would be maintenance. I a couple of my questions. I hope someone could help me. Please don't laugh... I am really ignorant when it comes to cars. Let's just say I let someone else handle the maintenance of the car for me.
So here it goes....
1. The engine will run optimally on gas with 95 octane rating. Should I stick with just that or could I use an octance rating lower than 95? I just filled it with XCS, could I used Super Unleaded next time I gas up?
2. The salesperson mentioned the i10 should use a mixture of coolant and water. What ratio should I be using? How often should I fill have it refilled? Will there be a indicator in the dashboard?
Thanks!

thanks mga sir for the congratulations. I brought 4 people on the first day me, my gf, mom and sister. hehehe again sobrang sulit for my driving style since I really don't drive fast and i usually drive alone going to work kaya ang gaan ng car tipid sa gas.
*rnab. congrats on your i10, Do read the manual from cover to cover. You will definitely maximize your car's performance and life once you read your manual since I definitely enjoyed reading it, especially the part of "driving your vehicle - Economical Operation page 5-26"
To answer your question. based on the manual
Gas - As long as it's unleaded and 91 octane above your car will be safe. Some people might want to use Petron or Shell's E10 Our Hyundai I10 can handle up to 10% ethanol only. It's all in page 1-2 to 1-3 of your manual.
Coolant - For this one the mixture with water and coolant please read the manual since there are specifications depending on the temperature of our country on how many percent is needed for the combination. It's in page 7-26
For the cars maintenance our I10 has 5yr or 100,000km what comes first warranty. I don't recommend you to bring this car outside the hyundai casa within that warranty. Since the warranty will be VOID if there are any issues with the car if you bring it outside the casa.
Ikaw ha your not reading the manual..
As what the manual says again and again "_____ Could cause serious injury or death" and "______ changed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer" hehehehe.

I test drove the i10 A/T today. It is such a pleasant surprise!
Steering is light, and the engine is responsive. Perfect for city driving. Space was also surprisingly sufficient. I'm 5'10", and over 200lbs, and I fit in just fine. After a slow and cautious start, I was doing relaxed driving almost immediately.
I unplugged my iPod from my Revo's JVC unit, and plugged it into the i10's JVC unit, and voila! Seamless transfer. Was immediately comfortable with the JVC headunit controls of the i10.
Some minor nitpicks:
- brake pedals a bit too soft, but I can easily make the necessary adjustments.
- wheels look too small for comfort. maybe because the hub caps also cover part of the wheel.
- no rear spoiler for the A/T.
- no central locking button (you need to use the driver's door lock)
- no 12V outlet at the rear compartment
Some must-have upgrades:
- mags and tyres
- backing sensors
- rain gutter
sir lui, magkano po ba ang 3-year LTO registration for the i10? Duda ako sa amount na binigay sa akin eh.

September 5th, 2008 11:22 PM #106Hi guys, I want to share with my current experiences with hyundai I 10, got my hyundai I 10 at the first day na pwde ng magbenta, my odo reading is around 464 na.
Nice car to drive, di mo feel na maliit ka, interior is ok, little bit bumpy dahil sa short wheel base. solid naman yung feel sa lubak. sound is acceptable, aircon is average pag mainit sobra, medyo hindi sya ganoon kalamig pero overall ok na sana lahat.
This past few days heres my observation, malakas sya sa gas, before i dont mind kasi my impression is matipid ito because of the small engine and if automatic probably less sya ng 3 km/liter only compared with m/t but i was wrong.
I filled up shell premium 18 liters, as of this day nasa 160 km palang ako malapit na mag empty. so if my calculation is correct nasa 8 km lang ito...Shocking ano? and this past few days may strange sound na at the back, it is a metal sound every time nasa rough road, left side, akala ko before is mga tools or upuan, i check everything talagang nasa ilalim ang problem...pag may sakay sa likod nawawala or it lessen.. Im really quite dissapointed nga with i 10...
I have alreday set an appointment with casa probably maayos nila..bad trip talaga.
So good luck na lang sa mga new buyers, think twice.....

Just found out that in India (where the i10 is being manufactured) they recently added a new i10 model with a larger 80PS 1.2 liter DOHC 16-valve "Kappa" engine.
Interesting...

Thanks for the feedback arms. Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Medyo malakas talaga ang FC during the first few thousand kms. Wait after your 1000km PMS. Brake-in period pa yan, so the engine isn't as smooth yet. Kung mineral oil ang stock ng i10, it might be good to upgrade to semi-synth during the 1000km PMS, then to full synth during the 5000km PMS, if your budget allows.
How about the other i10 owners? What's your current FC? C#*RD and rnab?

8km/l on a brandnew car with only 464km odo reading is not shocking....normally brandnew cars will consume more on the first 10,000 kms since the engine under break in period... it will improve in the long run..also FC will be affected if you drive in the city where the normally 20minutes drive will take 1 hour and 30 mins.. in the highway better maintain max speed of 80kph, higher than that FC will suffer..
regarding the strange noise, all cars have that "strange noise" that you hear... you know why?? because we are so excited during the first ride on our new car and after a while we start to examine, feel and observe the car.. then there goes the strange sound that you don't hear before...because you have focused your attention to the sound that is why you are hearing it...
OT: before when we bought our 2nd hand cars, at first we are very happy "Kasi Tahimik sa loob walang kalampag" but after a few rides with it.. there goes we hear strange things especially if you focus your attention to it..we get used to the sounds in the long run..
