The CARS program...
If I remember correctly... The Aquino admin has 3 slots for the program, pero sa taas ng requirements, only the Vios and Mirage ang nakapasok.

February 24th, 2020 12:32 PM #44To be fair, not only the admin is to blame re this.
These are the same eggheads at HCPI who also thought the accord would be priced well at 2.2m
Honda trying hard to fail and to go the way of Hyundai here in the PH despite having decent products.
Edit: It's 2.3m pala heheLast edited by mda; February 24th, 2020 at 12:37 PM.

February 24th, 2020 12:55 PM #46Just saying that the local HCPI office isn't exactly trying to sell more cars either.
Parang ayaw nga nila magbenta eh. I think the ratio of 2020 Camries to Accords right now I've seen is like 50:1, and the '1' I spotted was entering a Yuchengco owned establishment...
The only thing worth buying in their lineup from a PURELY value-for-money perspective right now (not everyone are enthusiasts like 90% of the people on this forum) seems to be the CRV and some City variants.Last edited by mda; February 24th, 2020 at 12:57 PM.

February 24th, 2020 04:20 PM #47It's true those unions causes a lot of headaches and reason of closures of business here. They will incite those workers and as if protecting them and when businesses decided to moved elsewhere sasabihin sorry na lang doon sa mga employeyado.
Another thing I don't get, what does China have to do with Honda closure other than being a racist and stupidly dumb can't see any other logical reason.
The fact itself that important than locally assembled car are more expensive says it all in operating a business, add that we have one of the highest electricity cost in Asia, then corruption in government like BIR, customs and others, then pag gusto ka pang pagtripan ng governement, you can see your license to operate being revoked, who in their right mind would really want to put up or continue their business here?

February 24th, 2020 04:39 PM #49Tax holiday? I recall an inforgraphic from TGPh wherein they showed the TRAIN Law actually made the prices of the Vios, Mirage, City and other entry-level cars (the ones that are made locally) more expensive while the bigger/imported cars, the SUVs become slightly cheaper. Can't find it anymore though.
I remember Mitsubishi taking over the old Ford plant back in 2015...

a tax holiday won't be enough when they keep producing cars that don't leave the dealers' showrooms
