Here's the sum of the work done...
Strips were around 7.5k, front & rear. No tinsmith hired though, spot welds on stock & replacement were just drilled loose. Absolutely no heat, gas nor rod welds done. All drill scars were primed w/ PU paint. Do It ColorLab compu-mixes OE stock paint codes & cans them for DIY rattling or pro spraying.
Windshield removal & reinstall labor was 4.5k. Headliner was DIY removed w/ extra care & clean gloved hands prior to glass removal.
Roof bones had no welds both old & new. The cancer was caused by wrong, corrosive twin-sided adhesive strips used by Honda Ph assembly. Nippon donor had zero rust.
PU has long been used in automotive panel joinery. New roof to car frame had PU in between all joint lines & rivets holding for good undisturbed cure. I've had spoilers installed w/o drilling....just trusty PU.
Adding extra insulation, that's a good idea, but just went w/ putting it back up to stock specs.....except the welds which would've required pro painting & more spending.
Hope this helps anyone who might Civics having the same problem. Very DIYable w/ planning & courage.....Pardon the long post.

BMW CF roofs are attached w/ no welds. We've used PU for various applications that require long term watertight seals. The documented & shared pics above were the general process. Stock & new scalps weren't full-welded, just spots along the front/rear top of windshields & along the 2 gutters. Both patient & donor roofs relied on factory PU joint sealing, not welds for watertightness & structural joinery.
