September 21st, 2015 09:34 AM #25Looks like a beauty. And it will have a turbo engine. 1.5 turbo if im not mistaken. That torque and power will be sweet. Going back to their performance roots.

Based on articles, the new 1.5L turbo engine will offer a 30hp power output increase over its old 1.8L NA engine. We are looking at around 170+ hp. It's a probability that the engine will be shared with the base Accord and maybe the CRV later on. Much like how Ford was successful with its 1.5L Ecoboost engine on the Fusion midsize sedan and the same engine was placed in the new Ford Focus.

The Ford 1.5L Ecoboost is rated at 180hp at 6000rpm and 240Nm starting at 1600rpm. The torque figure does not include overboost at 5000rpm (usually additional 15-20% torque). The 1.0L Ecoboost has a torque rating of 200Nm at overboost (15 seconds) when it crosses 5000rpm, compared to its usual torque rating of 170Nm from 1500-4500rpm.
174hp (as per Car and Driver) from a small turbo engine is still pretty decent. If properly mated to its CVT tranny, it will surely be one fun to drive car. It will be like the Honda K24 (Accord 2.4L) engine but with torque pull felt at lower rpms (below 2000).Last edited by Egan101; September 21st, 2015 at 11:21 AM.
