Yung sa Fort kasi you have to press a button so not much gained in terms of convenience.

Delay vs manual open/close is only a few seconds but if you're in a hurry or have an emergency I can see how it could become annoying.

Nope, you still have to press the button with the Forester. It can get annoying if you're in a hurry. You can override it by manually pulling the trunk door after pressing the switch.

It was the TOTL Escape 2.0L Ecoboost which has the foot sensor to allow you to open the trunk automatically without any buttons.

The trouble with the power liftgate is that guards at the mall do not know how to operate it and ended up forcibly yanking it open.

What I do is just before my turn for inspection, I start to open the liftgate then close it immediately after inspection.

Yes it needs to be on P. I have changed the door lock settings not to auto-unlock when P is engaged. Normally guard starts inspection upfront so enough time to have the tailgate open.
