Scrap what I said, there's a DIY calibration procedure pala if the warning light stays on after inflating the tires. Hirap talaga pag di nagbabasa

Got a chance to open up the throttle of my VTEC Honda 2.0 last night. Having owned a Gen 3 CRV, i am very familiar with this engine but when they mated this with a CVT, boy does it fly off the starting line quickly. I maybe exaggerating but i think I got to 120kph in about 5 or 6 seconds.

I believe official 0-100kph figures for 2.0 gas CRV is in the 10 sec range

What juice was the CRV taking? I should try that also, maybe my FXT can do 3 seconds on a 0-100 sprint.

I had it filled with V Power (not the Racing). Took advantage of a steep discount Shell was giving to SM Prestige card holders (- 3 pesos/liter and - 1 peso from the scratch card). Hmmm. . .probably it was more than 6 seconds . . 8-10ish i guess. I'll time it the next time.

What was amazing is that the engine kept running at 5000+ rpm and still going faster. No downshift was felt up until I lifted the throttle. I guess the CVT was downshifting bit by bit.

I've timed my CRV gas. Almost 12 sec to 100.

CVTs stay in the powerband so they accelerate quickly. But you can't overcome 1500 kg with a relatively underpowered (154 hp only) engine.

My Civic is 250 kg lighter so it has much better power-to-weight ratio and does 100 kph in about 10.5 sec. I don't have a video of the CRV but here's the Civic which is definitely much faster than the CRV.

Try to test it from a full stop to check how it performs a 0-100 kmh sprint. I am not sure how intelligent the CVT of Honda if you try to do a brake launch. For Subaru turbo cars with CVT, they try to do it by holding on to the brakes, rev the engine to turbo spool rpm (2500 rpm), letting go of the brakes, and then flooring to 6k rpm. I have not tried it though.
