it happened to me on a small town in Mindoro province while on the way to Boracay, when we reach roxas we found out I was driving for about 2hrs with an open gas tank. I just put some improvised cover and after 3days holiday in boracay I got it back on the same gas station.. its good they didn't deny it and they didn't ask for anything
