December 10th, 2006 10:09 PM #11As bad as it sounds, some of the so-called solutions that have been proposed are actually part of the problem.
For instance, we are all aware of the limitations of the LTO. Thus, realistically, as harsh as it sounds, it can’t be part of the solution unless we have a drastic change in governance. At least, the LTO provides a minimum of framework that allows a semblance of a working system. After all, we are able to get from point A to point B in one piece, right?
Driver education, rather the lack of it, is another mitigating factor that we obviously can not change in the near or short-term future. As such, we simply have to work with or around the given situation.
Law implementation is also obviously lacking is most parts of our country. But the SBMA under Gordon did prove that there is hope. However to implement such a system on a nationwide basis would be a Herculean task. But it would not be impossible to do so on a selective localized basis.
I guess what I am wondering is if we can think outside the box and come up with more innovative proposals.

December 10th, 2006 10:19 PM #12talo ka kung makipaggitgitan ka sa kanila. its either your ahead of them or behind them. never side by side with them or racing with them. most of them did not go through formal driving school training. so they do not know what are the right driving rules. and if they know, they do not observe said rules: naghahabol yan sila ng boundary.
peace!

It's not so bad if you get a route that isn't oversaturated yet, but it's not a good investment with a brand new vehicle...
...had a friend who tried it, and even if you don't drive yourself, ang hirap!
Problem is, the government is helpless to limit franchises, and the JODAs don't police their ranks or limit their numbers... some places, you'll have three dozen jeepneys vying for just a dozen passengers... a real lose-lose situation.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Guys in fairness sa mga PUJ or PUV or other means of public transpo, hindi lahat ng public transpo driver walang disiplina sa daan. Maraming katulad nilang PUJ driver ang galit sa kapwa nila driver dahil sa hindi magandang asal sa daan. Maraming dahilan kung bakit sila ganuon, "chicken and egg" ika nga. Parang magulang sa anak, or gobyerno sa mamamayan.
Meron din namang AIM graduate, Masteral degree holder, hi profile personality, public official or general ang bastos, balasubas at abusado sa daan.
For me ang solution is proper governance.
I was a PUJ driver before during my college days, sumusonod ako sa batas trapiko, nirerespeto ang kapwa ko driver, naka PUJ man AUV or SUV.

solution ? firing squad ang solusyon sa mga yan. for so many decades, puwede na sila sampahan ng economic sabotage.
look at the progressive areas/communities without/with controlled # of PUVs (Rockwell, Eastwood, Ortigas, Fort and many others , fast-paced ang buhay, mabilis ang progress.
anybody here visited cubao lately? noon college years ko napakadumi at napakagulo ng cubao, madalas dun ako sumasakay pauwi.
ngaun, yan inside ng cubao araneta center area, parang naging-ala eastwood/rockwell, bawal na mga jeepneys/puvs sa loob. sa gateway nakita ko pa future plan nila, they're building skyscrapers for call centers/residentials condos na as we speak. they have foot bridges na and hindi na nangigitim sa usok mga daan. seems that Eastwood City's Megaworld is also involved here.
mukang natuto na mga Araneta clan bec. nag-lag behind sila talaga these past few years. and they have started by removing those PUVs.
