San Juan gives in to vehicular traffic scheme 'window'

THE METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Sunday that the number coding scheme window had recently been implemented in the municipality of San Juan, following requests from motorists passing Aurora Boulevard and Ortigas Avenue.
MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito informed the agency last week that he has allowed all private vehicles to ply the municipality's roads from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Under the United Vehicular Volume Reduction Program, private vehicles are covered by the number coding scheme, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except during the window hours.
The scheme bans cars from the roads on given days based on the last digit of their license plates. For example, cars whose license plates end in the digits "1" or "2" cannot be used on Mondays while cars whose license plates end in the digits "3" or "4" cannot be used on Tuesdays.
Buses and jeepneys are not covered by the window hours.
With Ejercito's decision, only Makati City does not observe the window hours.

correct me if i'm wrong please, di ba ang coding scheme din e sa major roads lang? side streets hindi kasama sa coding? ako kasi kahit coding i use my car going to sm, or cherry supermarket, or wherever. basta di ako dumadaan sa major streets like edsa, quezon ave, etc. pag tatawid ako ng major road sumisilip muna ako kung may mmda hehehe! nahuli na din ako minsan sa edsa, sabi ko tatawid lang ako. ok lang daw, di naman ako binigyan ng ticket.
