The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Wednesday said that “love triangle” is the motive behind the killing of race car driver Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor.

Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, the chief of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) in Camp Karingal, made the remark during a press briefing in Camp Karingal.

According to Marcelo, the alleged mastermind behind the killing, Domingo De Guzman, alias “Sandy”, 40, businessman and a resident of BF Homes, Parañaque City and Pastor’s wife,Dahlia Guerrero Pastor, allegedly has a relationship.

“Lumalabas na love triangle. Na establish natin na meron relasyon si Dahlia kay Sandy,” Marcelo said.

Marcelo said efforts to establish the motive and the identities of the suspects were a result of “painstaking efforts” to bring closure to the case more than two months after Pastor’s killing.

“Day one pa lang ayaw namin magsalita pero nagpatuloy ang pagkilos namin, paggalaw,” Marcelo said.

Marcelo said that base on the extra-judicial confession made by the gunman identified as Police Officer 2 (PO2) Edgar Angel, he admitted his alleged participation in the killing of Pastor.

Marcelo said a tipster also pointed to Angel as the gunman in the killing.

Angel has confessed to have been hired by De Guzman to kill Pastor in exhange for P100,000. The plan to kill the racer started since December last year and was finally carried out on June 12.

“Doon po sa salaysay na ibinigay ng atin siyang maaresto, ang sinasabi po niyang nag-utos sa kanya at nagbayad sa kanya ng P100, 000 na si Domingo De Guzman na kanya pong kumpare…. Yung dati po asawa ni Domingo De Guzman eh ninang po ng anak sa bunso ng suspect natin na si Angel,” Marcelo.

Marcelo said that base on their investigation, Dahlia allegedly also has direct participation in planning the killing of his husband as early as December of last year.

Angel, according to police, also admitted during questioning that Dahlia was reportedly a battered wife according to De Guzman. Dahlia also said to have photos of her bruises sustained from the beating she got from her husband.

According to Angel, De Guzman claimed that Dahlia is a close friend of him.

But according to Marcelo, De Guzman, who also participates in car racing and has a car rapair shop in Muntinlupa City, has vehemently denied that he knows Angel.

Marcelo said with this development, police has considered Dahlia as a suspect in the crime. He said the woman has went into hiding.

Reports added that the woman has her children with Pastor.

Among the high-ranking police officials present during the press briefing include Chief Supt. Richard A. Albano; QCPD District Director; Deputy Director General Felipe Rojas, the PNP’s Deputy Chief for Administration; Police Director Benjamin Magalong, the chief of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), Senior Supt. Procopio Lipana, the QCPD’s Deputy District Director for Operations (DDDO) and Inspector Elmer Monsalve, the chief of the QCPD’s Homicide Section.

The parents of Enzo Pastor and their lawyer, Salvador Panelo, were also present during the press briefing.

Magalong said aside from criminal cases, Angel will also face administrative charges. He is not entitled to bail.

The QCPD said that a case of murder will be filed against Angel and De Guzman while a case of parricide will be filed against Dahlia before the Department of Justice.

Albano, in the same briefing, commended the men and women of the CIDU, District Anti-Ilegsl Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (DAID-SOTG) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Team-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (DIDT-CIDG) for the successful arrest of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Enzo’s father, Tom Pastor, declined to comment about the love triangle angle.

He added that after the 40th day of his son’s death, they have lost contact with Dahlia.

“After the 40th day of his death, wala na communication,” he said.

“We are saddened and we did not know that it will turn out this way,” he added.

Tom, at the same time, thanked the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) under Sec. Mar Roxas, for their efforts in arresting the suspects behind his son’s killing.

MANILA, Philippines—The wife of Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor is now considered as one of the primary suspects in the car racer’s murder, the police said.
The police are eyeing love triangle as the motive behind Pastor’s June 12 murder, with Dahlia Guerrero, his wife, considered as primary suspect who allegedly plotted with arrested businessman Domingo “Sandy” de Guzman III and Pasay City policeman PO2 Edgar Angel.
“She helped in assisting,” said Police Director Benjamin Magalong, PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief, when asked if Guerrero had a hand in plotting Pastor’s murder.
De Guzman is allegedly a lover of Guerrero, Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo, Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said ‎in a press briefing at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Wednesday.
Guerrero and Pastor have two sons aged seven and five.
Marcelo said a manhunt operation had been launched against Guerrero who remains at large.
Angel, who served as a policeman for 16 years, admitted in his extra-judicial confession that he shot Pastor in exchange for P100,000 from De Guzman.
Marcelo said Angel is a family friend of De Guzman. De Guzman is also the godfather of the policeman’s children.
In the same briefing, Thomas Pastor, the victim’s father, revealed that they lost contact with Guerrero 40 days after her husband’s death.
‎”We are very much saddened that this would turn out this way,” the elder Pastor added.
Marcelo said Angel was arrested last August 23 by the police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Libis, Quezon City ‎for selling 100 grams of shabu to a poseur buyer.
Police said that after Angel’s arrest, he was pointed as the alleged gunman of Pastor.
Angel revealed to the police that de Guzman promised to pay him “bonus money” for killing ‎Pastor.
“De Guzman did not know that PO2 Angel was already under police custody when he agreed to give PO2 Angel his supposed bonus,” police said.
On Tuesday afternoon, an entrapment operation in Muntinlupa City yielded to the arrest of De Guzman, who was about to give Angel his bonus.

Even NBI are pursuing the Love triangle angle. So there must be some credence.

So ang nangyari pala nahuli yun shooter sa buy bust then nag entrap sila kay de guzman, kunwari humingi ng bonus iyong hired killer ng P50k. Caught in the act talaga.

Yup, questionable nga yun nawala communication sa in laws. To think dapat kasama mo sila to grieve.

What's the family background of the wife? Does she come from a good family? It seems like she does not have the approval of the parents of her husband based on their reaction to the investigation. They did not even come to her defense.
