    If simple business contracts, which only involve money, possess escape clauses for wronged parties... why not social contracts like marriage, wherein people's lives can be ruined?

    Not everyone is an expert psychologist, able to tell when someone is not being truthful or genuine to them during the courtship. A suitor can be an angel in the year(s) of courtship leading up to marriage, only to turn out to be a devil afterwards.

    Of course, the argument is that we have Annulment.

    Annulment is not divorce. Annulment costs a lot of money and places the burden entirely on the wronged party. A wife who is abandoned by her husband, struggling to make ends meet, will have a hard time applying and paying for annulment.

    Divorce, on the other hand, is a way to make the guy bleed... erh... money, not blood.

    Not every couple in this country is Catholic. Our laws should reflect that.

    Hell... even the Catholic Church in Italy allows divorce... so there's really no point in the local church holding out...

    You're right, Niky about Italy. According to a New York Times article even Malta has allowed divorce back in 2011.

    GMA flash report: CAAP o NBI may hinarang na helicopter with Dalia Pastor as one of the passengers. Going to Quezon province. Bakit kaya helicopter pa e pwede naman yun by land?

    Kill the bishops?

    Does anyone know what is the opinion of the Philippine Independent Church (Aglipayan) on divorce? They allow their priests to get married so maybe they have a different position on divorce. How about the other religions, like the INC? Protestants? Others?
