November 15th, 2018 04:25 PM #1814but i have a question.
is there really a legal basis to these ocho plates?
or, did it start as a gift of sorts from the LTO, and somewhere along the way evolved into a thing of un-speakable horror?

November 15th, 2018 06:03 PM #1817Doc the oldest document I can find is an Executive order signed by President Carlos P. Garcia in 1958. EO287
Executive Order No. 287, s. 1958 | Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines
And the latest is document from DOTR which I also posted above. Here's the link again:
https://dotr.gov.ph/images/issuances/DO/2015/13.pdf
But I guess during the early implementation of this EO, konti pa ang mga kotse sa daan and many of our assemblymen are people who you will actually respect, those who will not allow anything to tarnish their names and legacy.
Interesting to note also that then President Ferdinand Marcos revoked EO287 thru EO505
Executive Order No. 55, s. 1978 | Official Gazette of the Republic of the Philippines
Part of the EO states:
Heretofore, the Secretary of Public Works, Transportation and Communications and the Chairman of the Land Transportation Commission are hereby directed not to issue low plate numbers for the official use of high government officials.
All low plate numbers that may have been issued in the past are hereby cancelled or withdrawn. Anybody caught using low plate numbers will be subjected to disciplinary action.
Most likely eh dahil Martial Law that time. Walang espesyal espesyal. Lahat subject to checkpoint. Unless presidente ka or part of the first family ka. Or ikaw si Fabian Ver o si Enrile.

Heard an interview over the radio that all "8" plates are already considered exprired. The last issued one were from the 16th Congress and there were no more "8" plates for the present 17th congress. Those still using the "old" plates is considered illegal.
Also the FJ Cruiser was already found and has normal plates attached and changed color.
Idiot family...
