Talking of stranded, i'm one of the poor victim still waiting for my flight to PPS.
Supposedly i should be off by 4pm yesterday and my resked 8am departure time this morning is again further delayed to 11am.
Will suggest to mgt later to switch airline during our crew change. All flights to PPS are fully booked thus no choice but to wait.
This one has made my day yesterday- c/in attendant statement "sir, first-come, first-serve po tayo ngayon" ang sagot sa akin nung tinatanong ko bakit wala na akong seat.

Did this come out in the local news?
The footage taken by one of the passengers on board this affected flight, clearly shows the cabin is foggy with a fume event, a condition when bleed air used for cabin pressurization and air conditioning in a pressurized aircraft to be contaminated or damaged, allowing contaminated air to flow in the cabin.
In the interview with passengers, they said the smoke was so full in the cabin that it was impossible to see, and some passengers reportedly showed symptoms such as headache and shortness of breath due to the smell of the combusted fuel flowing directly into the cabin.

Bro, strategy nila yun just like happened to me yesterday para sabihin nila na booked seat has been taken. First-come, first-served nga raw:o
Talagang overbooked sila or remnants from cancelled flights were the culprit.
Dapat cebupac ay nagdagdag ng additional flights to clear all backlogs.

December 28th, 2014 11:02 AM #8on our way home from singapore last week.. PAL.
we were already lined up for baggage check-in.
then this monitor was flashing a message for volunteers who would be willing to give up their seats, for another flight 4.5 hours later. there were no takers. so i asked my son, "anak, tingnan mo nga yon sa desk.."
he goes, and sabi niya, they were looking for 10 daw.. in exchange, they would be getting a free round-trip ticket to singapore..
sabi ko, "anak, ikaw na lang.."
then after a few minutes, sabiko, "tekateka... puede rin ako diyan.."
so, we got two free tickets.. may libreng burger king brunch pa.
a big change from PAL when it was still a monopoly..
