Ford is seriously considering the offer of Tata as of the moment-parang lamang sila over the other bidders for Land Rover and Jaguar but I think there is no final deal yet as of the moment..
Sabi sa news..pag nangyari ito, it would be a big technological leap for Tata because it would save them time and money in tech research.. mamanahin na lang nila ang technology ng Ford.. Madami kasing pera ang Tata. I think it was also able to buy one of the world's biggest steel makers...hmmm.. kaya siguro gusto nila ng magmanufacture ng magmanufacture ng maraming kotse kasi may steel company na sila. I does make sense.
But this 125,000 car is encountering some controversies in India..malamang daw dadami pa ang sasakyan doon and it would worsen air pollution.. hmm..baka pag dinala din yan dito sa pinas mas lalong magiging sakit ng ulo ang traffic ..

I saw it in BBC also, the base car costing only USD 2k has no amenities such as power steering, central locking, radio, right side side view mirror.

Yup... but it's a smaller car.
Marketwise, the price range of the Alto and Chery QQ is still to high to appeal to a much wider demographic than the Japanese cars... if you can afford either, you're still looking at fairly fresh secondhand cars.
But if the Nano comes in, given the very low tax for cheap vehicles, it could hit the 150-175k range. At that range, you're just beyond the scooter crowd, but the possibly low monthly payments this would mean (say, 5k a month or less) would make it very accesible for a lot of urban commuters... and the fuel economy (worst case scenario... 25 km/l?) would make it more attractive than a secondhand car.
Some of us have suggested in the design forum that we look at producing this kind of car... it addresses a demographic that is completely unserved here, whether by those looking at brand new or surplus units... and design and production can be relatively cheap and simple... requiring simple assembly processes (tube-frame and fiberglass) and cheap parts, as opposed to a full-sized truck as the MVPMAP and Anfra groups are focusing on.

haay naku!
hulaan ko magkano presyo nyan pagdating dito
100k + 100% tax==200k
SHipping 25k = 225k
