March 10th, 2007 02:26 PM #22E-5 is okay pero I get wary kung 10% blend siya.
Heck I'm scared of B5 (5% biodiesel) pero I'm fine with B1 and B2 for normal diesel vehicles.

Eto nga pala ung fuel consumption ko before E-10:
60kms/10liters = 6.00 km/L
90kms/15liters = 6.00 km/L
100kms/15liters = 6.67 km/L
80kms/15liters = 5.33 km/L
Eto naman while using E-10.. walang difference sa consumption pero mastahimik makina. Balik na ulit ako sa regular unleaded.
58kms/10liters = 5.80 km/L
92kms/15liters = 6.13 km/L
80kms/15liters = 5.33 km/L
Bukas ko na lang check ung sa engine.. dilim na wala na ko makita. Bukas unleaded na ulit pakarga ko. Sana maayos.

personally, I wouldn't use ethanol or biodiesel myself... i'm not yet convinced that it won't lead to long-term mechanical deterioration, particularly for vehicles that don't have official backing for the fuel (Ford is the only one locally).
the cost savings are almost non-existent anyway, at least with something like LPG, the reduction in fuel economy is offset by the large price difference per liter of the fuel (and it's the cost savings that counts at the bottom line for consumers, not the km/liter figure).
and for what small environmental benefit that using E10 in my car will bring, well, I say that my car (and every other new car sold) is extremely clean already compared to the unregulated jeepneys and buses and taxicabs out there. if i really want my car to be environmentally friendly, I'll just go get a Honda Jazz 1.3.

Apparently, I can use E10 on my Suzuki GV coz it's stated in the manual that E10 is ok
I also saw on the news that E85 is sold in a few states in the US but it's not popular.
As for the local law, I think in the first to second years, E5 is required then increased to E10 thereafter.
