Bulletproofing a vehicle is almost pointless nowadays especially if you face this kind of traffic and roads everyday. There are cheaper ways to deter crime attempts and all it takes is pre-mission planning. 90% of a successful escape takes place before you hit the road and adhering strictly to these "secret service" level of planning will get you out of trouble faster and efficiently than what an armoured truck can do. Evasion is the key while a high level of driving skills, a quick vehicle, mastery of the surrounding areas, and gunnery skills and choice of ammo top the requirements. No armoury can withstand an ambush in tight spots especially if it's a pillar attack, but a good dose of common sense and quick thinking's already an effective countermeasure. Don't put your life and your love ones' in between those streel plates because they're worth more than that.

This is a car forum, that's why we discuss the vehicular aspect of security.
An armored vehicle is just another layer of protection in a security detail. Of course, every layer counts.
Pillar attacks are generally supressed by overlap armor. Especially with the advent of composite materials.
Some level of protection is still better than no protection. Unless whatever protection you have is giving you a false sense of security (e.g. listen to the salestalk of the laminates person and you'll really have FALSE sense of security after you buy their product).
And some people buy them just because they like 'em. Kinda like the same people who buy hearses, ambulances, and ex-cop cars. They have no real use for them, but it's their hobby.
