Sayang talaga yung mga kotse. Pero i really think there's some sort of under the table deal going on, which is why the only cars destroyed were older models.
On a side note, now that imported cars are a hot topic, the cops seem overly excited to pull over "Y" or "R" plated cars lately. I just got pulled over earlier today (Y plate ko), and they insisted my car was hot, even though I personally made sure all its papers are clean. At least bringing up General Berroya's name still works to get rid of them...

R/Y plates are hot because they are the plates issued in Central Luzon (R ang pumalit after they ran out of C) and Cebu where most imported used vehicles come in. Some of these vehicles did not have proper documentation or did not pay the right tax but were still issued license plates.
C plates and X plates on early model vehicles (plate age not matched to vehicle age) are also viewed as suspicious in terms of taxes and duties.

Destroy all smuggled vehicles!
No government money was wasted when those smuggled vehicles were destroyed. Its the money of the smugglers and the downpayments of those who tolerate smuggling--the consumersof these vehicles!!
If some people want to call the destruction of these smuggled vehicles as stupidity---you are entitled to you own opinion...
But for me....to stop this stupidity of destroying smuggled vehicles, the government should crack down and prosecute
those who are responsible for these---the smugglers, corrupt custom, SBMA, free port officials, politicians and the consumers of smuggled vehicles---and stop all forms of smuggling!!!
