June 12th, 2014 04:56 PM #1066Not yet, they're still working in perfecting the Powershift technology. I would stay away on any of their Powershift variant until there's an official confirmation from a trusted auto review magazine saying Ford has perfected the technology.

I think the Avanza has side impact beams sandwiched somewhere in those skinny doors. :P
Like the Wigo, the Avanza (Daihatsu Xenia) is an "affordable" product by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor Indonesia. I've ridden in an Avanza taxi and the first thing I noticed were the light flimsy feeling doors, so-so NVH, and of course the body roll of the vehicle.
I checked out the higher trim Avanza and it really feels like a cheaper vehicle than the EcoSport, I wasn't surprised really since the Avanza is marketed as a small AUV.
The EcoSport was developed to different standards since it was going to be marketed in countries with stricter safety standards (its a near-global vehicle). Although Ford in Brazil headed the development of the EcoSport (B-segment crossovers SUVs are very popular in Brazil), they had input from other branches of Ford.Last edited by AG4; June 12th, 2014 at 09:49 PM.

June 14th, 2014 09:05 AM #1070I agree avanza has that cheap feel and the looks is really wanting. But it is the closest to the ecosport in terms of price and ride height which is my main criteria for getting a vehicle. If not only for the reported transmission problem i have no doubts that ecosport is the better choice handsdown.
