Long intervals maybe earth/sked-friendlier but are the surest way to sludge-up engines. Something no1 sees til the valve cover gasket needs changing.[emoji41]
Oil changes are easy & won't cost much. The old school 5k interval has kept our ancient 1s pretty much surprise/sludge-free.

Many people replace vehicles 5 years or less ... so they can't relate to the sludge issues ... remember the BMW lifetime sealed transmission oil? ... that didn't go well ...

I have an uncle who followed the 20k mile (32k kms) service interval for a BMW X5. It sludged badly but it was fixed by doing multiple oil changes in a row.
Cars used in NCR traffic should follow tighter service intervals because the wear and tear per km is higher in stop and go traffic

Amen on shorter intervals for vehicles being driven in traffic or, in the case of some chaffeur-driven steeds, idling for a long time.
Manila (and other cities like Bogota, Delhi, Lagos) can be very bad for a car in that it is not only really low in terms of average speed (read: traffic is just SOOO bad) but that it can get really warm too.
Metro Manila is unique in that temperatures are generally over 30 celsius during the day ALL-YEAR round on the roads.
