Stock 2011 - 2014 Ford Explorer Discussion - Ford Explorer & Ranger Resource "Serious Explorations"®
Apparently this has also been a problem on older explorers. But this lingering issue is not affecting all cars, as I have a friend I've been talking to that hasn't had this in his. From the guys here that have had their TSB's done, nobody had a complete success on the repairs.
Me thinks there's no recall on this because ford doesn't have a solution.

September 23rd, 2013 10:36 PM #3Hi guys! New in thread. Quick questions lang:
1. Explorer was last serviced oct2012 for 5k pms. Now, increased lang ng 500kms. Eh 5,500kms palan natakbo nya.
2. Ano po ba mga TSB? Ang nareceive ko lang is yung sa sync and cooling fan.
3. Last 2011 acquired siya, 2012 model po ba ito? Ano difference sa mga sumunod na model?
4. Lastly, if i plan to change my rims to size 22, ok lang ba and what recommended tire pressure? Sa warranty ok lang kaya yun?
TIA!!

1. No need to do PMS yet even 1 year na nakalipas.
2. Those 2 you mentioned plus yung fume smell.
3. 2011 & 2012 there's nothing different AFAIK. Your is just 2011 issued/release. The 2013 had added features + monitor sa back head rest. The price is also higher by more or less 300K.
4. Not sure on the tire but more often, casa would use it against warranty.
Fuel should be fine basta unleaded lang.

September 24th, 2013 01:53 PM #5Sir macsd.. Thanks for the quick reply!
Btw, talked to one of the SA sa ford alabang, sabi need daw muna idiagnose yung sa fumes kelangan itest drive so ihataw nila bali? Sa fuel module naman need daw ng letter muna from ford phils bago nila gawin or diagnose. Then sa mytouch sync, october pa daw yung update.

They will say warranty will voided if you don't follow the prescribed 6 months/5,000 km PMS Me personally, I don't follow, low mileage din kasi yung akin so I will just go for every 5,000 km.
Palpak mga courier service ng Ford Phils. I called them up before for the TSB on MySync update last year, ang sabi sa akin pinadala na daw yung letter pero wala naman ako natanggap. And until now, I haven't gotten any letter from them regarding smell on hard acceleration.

Yes, just wait for it. The warranty due to PMS is all crap. Do they do PMS if their inventory get's beyond 6 months ? I'm sure they don't. Ok lang yun if you don;t use much the car, nothing would likely break except maybe the battery. But then, if you look at utilization relative to depreciation, talo ka. We're on the same situation though mine is 2012 with 9500km on the odo only. Naghahabulan lang kami yata ni 3ple4.
I suggest you go for the TSB as the rate your using your car, warranty might expire before you hit 10K. yes, they will test drive the car, no choice yun and hataw to get the smell in the cabin. Don't worry, it's free and you get to have your garage to free-up as it will take 5 days for them to complete the fix on the smell. The fuel TSB kasi is only certain batch. What you can do is call Ford Phil to check if your car is in the batch affected rather than waiting for the letter. If FPI say's it's affected, then you can alert them that you'll get to schedule the TSB at Ford Alabang and they will make arrangement directly with the casa. On Mytouch, i got mine updated in Alabang as well so i wonder why wait for Oct unless there's this latest update coming out again.

September 24th, 2013 06:55 PM #8Void warranty if not within 6months PMS?
Pwede siguro wag nalang muna PMS parang sayang nga talaga, wait for 10k nalang.. Then sa ngayon call ko nalangmuna ford phils about sa TSB. Then if meron pa, pasched sa ford alabang. How about sa cooling fan? Talked to a call center representative sa ford and asked them about the TSB and gave them my VIN, sabi daw na reprogram na daw cooling fan before. Yun lang ba yun wala na replacement or something?
About mytouch, yes may latest update daw for october so antayin ko nalang daw yun. Hassle lang unresponsive yung touchscreen sa ngayon
Another question po pala, napansin ko sa sidemirrors, magkaiba ang view both sides? Sa right malayo, left ang lapit nakakalito and nibago tuloy. Ganun ba talaga? Hehe.
Thanks for the replies!!

Don't worry about the PMS, it's all talk lang naman parang panakot. It's all BS that does not hold water. Well, kung meron nga bagong version by next month for the mytouch, better wait for it. Then isabay mo na lahat ng TSB in one visit. Honestly, even if your feet ain't heavy on the pedal, it's better to get it fixed now while still it's free. Time will tel it may get worse or you might sell it then the prospective buyer would complain about it, too late na to get it done for free.
About the side mirror, just adjust the big one to your comfort sight. Yung small one on the corners, bumili ako ng contoured shape mirror that is less than 100pesos and that's the one i stick on each mirrors. Now i have a wider view and wala ng blind spot.

If you only went for the 1,000 km PMS, hindi sila nagche-change oil unless you told them to, then baka pwede mo na ipa-PMS yan kung naka-5,000 km ka na para mapalitan na yung langis. Ang usual practice kasi namin ng mga kapatid ko ay may change oil dapat sa 1,000 km pero pag wala, then sa 5,000 km na lang then every 10,000 km na after that, tutal fully synthetic naman ang ginagamit namin.
But since may kamahalan ang Explo natin, I plan to have the PMS every 5,000 km para lang sigurado hehe
