Danggit coming from Bais .. Bais, Negros Oriental - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ... is not as salty as the ones being served in Manila restaurants (which came from all over) ......
Way back before it became "mainstream", one can only get Danggit from the sea side towns of Negros Oriental.
Super salty nga, kasi may kasama pa itlog na maalat.

January 27th, 2015 02:05 PM #1107afaik there's a less salty variety of danggit -- i.e. "hinugas" sa tubig dagat, no additional salt added. Downside is that it's more susceptible to mold, so you need to keep it in the freezer.

January 28th, 2015 10:38 AM #1109akala ko hinalo nyo sa carbonara sauce yung danggit. It could work though. hmm...
Mali ata yung earlier post ko: the less salty danggit is washed in fresh water, the salty ones in salt water. It's been awhile but we bought some at Tabo-an in Cebu
