i remember nung pumunta ako sa wix distributor sa q.ave, it seems they don't really give much thought on bringing stocks of filters for the retail-automotive sector, the cars, suv's... same with volmax,
meron sila libro ng catalogue at cross reference, pero bawat tanung ko panay walang stocks...puro pang heavy duty and pang large machines....
sa distributor ng parker racor at donaldson filters, ganun din wala sila stocks ng mga sizes that belongs to the car segment...

usually mga fleet buyers yata at heavy equipment mga customers nila. one time nakausap ko yung anak ng me ari ng isang malaking bus company. in charge sya sa operation. i thought vic lang gamit nila sa mga buses nila kasi mga rundown lang ang gamit nila nuon. sagot sakin they are using donaldson. di pa ko familiar nuon sa mga ganyang filter. kahit siguro sa auto supply ko pipiliin pa rin ng buyer ang vic kesa sa baldwin, fleetguard etc kung me tinda man ako. kahit siguro 10x ko volume ng sales ng filter ko di pa rin ako aabot sa requirement ng filter ng bus company nila.
so for me also, maliit lang siguro tayo para sa market nila considering pa-isa isa lang tayo bumili. parang market ng kotse sa pinas. di tayo gano pansin kasi mas malaki volume kumuha neighboring countries satin. they are not missing much.Last edited by niwde11; September 17th, 2012 at 09:43 PM.

Even the ratty old heavy equipment i that see at the worksites use real deal Donaldson and Fleetguard filters.
I think it's more of a question of having a distribution network. The retail auto segment is still small for them really since they are limited to selling from their stores and a few heavy equipment distribution stores as compared to VIC and Purolator which already have an established distribution network.
I was at ACE Hardware in SM Makati last night and I was surprised to see three boxes of the "Made in USA" Purolators. Sadly it was the model for the Ford Explorer/Sprot Trac/Expedition. The price was noticeably double (P 300+) as against the other Purolators we see on the shelf which retail for P 100+ usually.

Yeah... based on the old "legit or not" discussions from the earlier parts of this thread, it does look legit. Packaging is similar to what you see in the US, no plastic wrapping, "made in/hencho..." mark, etc. Too bad it's only three pieces, and for a Ford even. I would have snapped it up immediately if it would fit on any of the cars at home, under my care.

September 18th, 2012 12:57 PM #2780Correct. The focus of these stores is for fleet and heavy equipment customers. For these types of equipment, the filters are both more expensive and customers are more discriminating. Plus the filters are changed more frequently. It may surprise a lot of people as to how often the filters are changed. For example, for a Komatsu HD325-6 mining dump truck, the recommended replacement interval of the oil filter is 250 hours. If the truck runs 20 hours a day, the filter has to be changed every 13 days.
