March 20th, 2012 11:51 PM #1585* dvldoc and all
i dont mean to be rude or a pessimist, but this thread is getting messier, and quite frankly, to some (including me) its confusing.
This is a very helpful thread, but its frustrating to know that fleetguard and baldwin and the higher quality filters are better for my engine and i cant grab a hold of them. If its okay, maybe we can consolidate all the helpful info,. Maybe start with a list in order of the best to the worst filter according to dvldoc along with all the aftermarket filters you found locally available. Then post a cross reference of the part number of the filters you found just like what doc did. Baldwin=Vic=Fleetguard=WIX etc. Then lets make a list of the addresses and contact numbers of the shops and/or people that carry/sell them. Start with metro manila, down to the provinces. After that we can also list down the shops that sell fake/imitation baldwin/fleetguard etc. filters. So when a common forumer asks "where can i buy a high quality oil filter and what part number is for my engine"? We can just post a link of this one page where all the info is present so that the rest of the pages are reserved for discussion. I think we can help our fellow forumers more if we did that.
Its a 100+ page thread with more than 1,500 posts. Its just all very, very confusing...

Well unfortunately it just happen to turn into that kind of thread, I have already put tons and I mean tons of time into thing looking up specs for people on filters, oil, and purchasing locations, cross reference sources. Someone else is going going to have to do a cut and chop on this if they want a simplified thread.
I just don't have the time to go through the whole thing and re-post everything in separate categories. If you got a question it's just as simple as asking, or doing a forum search.
Feel free to PM , I answer them all.Last edited by dvldoc; March 21st, 2012 at 12:52 AM.

Doesn't even look like the old design. Looks more like a rebaged China made Toyota filter.
Someone tell me I'm wrong, which you guys know by know is not to often.
I fear it's this one one the Left on the inside which I have already shown is one of the worst filters that's out there, second only to the VIC. But it does have a metal center tube so who knows what the heck is inside it???????? I see it also has no country of origin.
Will it still work, oh I'm sure it will, I would be very curious to see what it looks like on the inside. Probably no better or worse than a OEM filter. But probably even worse.
Also know real fleetguard has a orange anti drainback valve.
Feel free to run it, cut it open if you can after you use it. I would not keep it on any longer than 5000klm or would just get another brand.Last edited by dvldoc; March 22nd, 2012 at 11:21 AM.

Thanks for the overview. I'll use it on one of the cars for the standard 5,000kms then cut it open on the oil change and post the update here.
